Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the lovely welcome back! I have said this before, but after posting here for the last decade plus, OH really feels like home! I took the break when I needed it and I am glad I did... but I am happy I can always come "home"! I'm also so glad to hear that everyone had a pretty happy update about the last few months, too! Look at us--we made it to the home stretch of COVID, and I hope we are all on the other side of all of the fear and anxieties that ruled us for the last year.

Ok, I am not going to sugar coat it--Day 1 of eating on-plan again was roughhhhh! I texted a few of my friends from OH and admitted that I finished my breakfast and lunch by 10:49am, lol. But I was good and only added a little 50 calorie cheese stick and powered through the rest of the day until dinner with no more snacks. I also went on a short but lovely walk after work. I am still dealing with this early-onset arthritis and it is really hard to make myself move when it hurts, but I need to remember that being fat and arthritic would be waaaay worse, so I am trying to make myself do something every day even if I can't run like I used to.

QOTD: What has been your first totally "this feels like 2019" moment since things started opening back up? For me it was this past weekend hanging out with all of my cousins. All together I think there were about 30 of us. It was a little uncomfortable/disconcerting at first but by the end of the weekend, I was completely comfortable hugging everyone :)

Since I was hungry yesterday I tried to plan better for snacks today. It's going to be 90 degrees today, so I doubt I will go for an outdoor walk. I will probably stick to the treadmill today.

Ohhh sorry, I didn't realize my QOTD was so US focused. I hope it happens soon for you!

Do you make your own Greek Meatballs?

lol, we are envious of you here! I've come to the conclusion that I'm over it and I'm basically going to see who I want at this point.. this includes my summer plans to see my parents (me and my dad are fully vaxxed and my step mom and boyfriend have had first doses)!

this week I have a chefs plate box - so I'm following their recipe and using the stuff they sent me for it.. I'll let you know if it's any good!

Ha well we were jealous of you for most of last year when your case counts were so much lower. What a wild ride it's been...

My best friend from college is Greek and they own a little restaurant in Rhode Island. I never knew how good a Greek meatball could be until I met them. Yummmm!

There is a large Greek community where I live and they have Greek food festivals every year. I actually found a recipe for them years ago in the paper and darn they are so good. However they have bread four and are fried. Wonder if I tweak it with almond flour and use pork rinds for the bread crumbs and air fry them if they would taste similar. I do miss them. OK you 2 just put that on my menu to try this weekend.

If you come up with a low carb recipe that is any good, please share! I am not good at tweaking recipes...

How about using pork skins for the bread and baking in the oven?

Good morning JB and menu crew!

Not to much planned today other than sitting at home waiting for the phone call that they'll deliver the washer and dryer. They're supposed to give us a call 30 minutes before they arrive. We'll see...LOL. It could be as early as 8 or as late as 6. I just love it...NOT! We cleaned out the vent pipe yesterday and blew it out as well. Lint may or may not be on our roof.... Well the wind probably has blown it off by this morning.

Food wise yesterday ended badly. Ugh. I just can't seem to get it right...ever. I don't know what today will hold with food. The mostly liquid diet is just not going to work. My mood is crap and it's making me even more irritable...to say the least. I think I'll do a shake as a snack to up my protein intake but head back to solids. I miss the chew and being hangry is just too much at this point in time. I'm still adjusting between depression meds. Maybe I'll try it again after I'm better established with the new med. I chose the wrong time to try this.

The good news is I've lost over 10 pounds since my appointment with my surgeon so I'll take it!

JB...so sorry you have to deal with arthritis. I have it in my back and legs...it just sucks.

QOTD: well nothing much has changed here except the mask stuff. People in my area never took it that seriously. We went to Walmart yesterday and the amount of people with out masks is astonishing. The vaccination rate here is not horrible but not great either. Kids are happier though and everyone just seems nicer and less stressed.

B: chicken sausage and ???

L: GF chicken tender and 1 cup potato leek soup

D: ???

S: PP shake and maybe a small bag of popcorn

Here is a pic of opal from yesterday...thought it'd help you all with a smile today!

OMG a 10lb loss is incredible! You are obviously doing something right. For me back to basics needs to be less about the first few weeks right after surgery with liquids, and more like the around the 6-8 month mark when I was eating 4 - 6 small protein dense meals. I am doing menu planning now and making a shopping list for next week and hope I can recreate my menus from that time period. Luckily I have tracked every morsel that has gone into my mouth since 2008 so I can look back and see what I was eating when it was working!
