What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Oh no do not get me wrong before Covid running was never a thought in my mind. I was a gym rat. 5x at least a week. I did any class available had arm days legs days and cardio days. But when the gyms closed I knew I had to do something. Just like you I started walking I started walking. It took about an hour to do 3 miles then slowly but surely I got faster. Now I do my 3.5 miles every morning at 6:00AM and I do it in about 30-36 minutes depending what dogs I have to stop and pet. Started out listening to Bert Kreischer (dirty Comedian) pod cast but now I listen to music to get a rhythm. But I do soul searching, I pray, I plan. By the time I get back to the house I am ready to start my day with a lot less stress than if I did not run. You just didn't get it yet. It may take a few months but once you see the progress you'll get faster and may even need it us much as the rest of us.

I agree with everything Teenie said about running. It took me awhile to get to the point that it was fun and not scary but once I did it really changed me. I didn't just wake up one day and know I could run... I practiced on a dead end street with no houses where no one could see me, lol. And I just got used to the running by "running" slower than I could walk but just refusing to let go of the runners gait. When I really got into real running, I used Jeff Galloway's run/walk technique and it got me up to a 10k.
I have had a ton of physical setbacks that started with a torn Achilles heel, then I very unexpectedly got diagnosed with early onset arthritis, so running has been in my rearview mirror for about a year, but I really hope to get back to it! It was one of my greatest joys and accomplishments of post op life.

Good morning, everybody!
JB, as ever, it is great to see you. I always assumed that you had a short fluffy tail, more like a poodle.
I am exhausted from the golf tournament yesterday. It was hot and the round took over 6 hours. But we made our fundraising goals. Oh, and I won a bottle of Pappy at the raffle.
QOTD: We spent November, the New Year's holiday, February and the last week of March/First week of February in Florida. Many fish were caught and conference calls taken from the pool. Me and Marilyn met Liz and Mike for lunch in November. In February I had a lovely lunch, harbor side, with Cynthia. Our friends from Texas came down to meet us and we went fishing in the Everglades.
My middle son made it through his first year at Mines and is working this summer. Youngest still plugging away remotely in this interminable school year. His SAT's went well. DD working quite a lot and waiting to find out where her boyfriend will live.
Cara came back for a few days. I got Dead and Company tickets for Dallas and Denver. Had my first weightlifting meet last week. And the Pappy.
Breakfast: Sausage and cottage cheese
Lunch: Hamburger
Dinner: Hello Fresh
Have a great day, all!
