What's on your Monday menu?
I got a projection from a financial adviser once that had me spending $750,000 a year at age 95. Living large, I guess.

I'm not sure how to calculate that, or what formula to use, or what the inflation rate is going to be in the future, but just for grins, say that's the equivalent of about $250K now. I would assume your mortgage will be long paid off by then, and your kids will have been out of college for decades - so yea, that would be living very high on the hog...
I would be ecstatic if I was physically able to spend that at 95, never mind having something to actually spend it on.

That sounds crazy, but I do taxes for people who do spend that kind of money. And the funny thing is some of them are trying to do their own taxes with TurboTax. One day TurboTax was running a promotion to do your taxes for free. But the lady that called did not qualify because her bank interest (interest not balance) was in the millions.
She said that she wanted to do her own taxes and I showed her what to do. But when she realized that she was going to have to pay for it (about $90), she said she was going to her accountant instead.
Another guy was running an old Windows 7 program that could not handle all of his stock transactions and kept crashing. I told him that he needed an up graded computer. He told his secretary to go to the office supply and buy him a better computer. Another person dealing with millions and trying to save by not paying an accountant.
One guy was doing his own taxes and felt that there was some error. He said he was a busy person and would not bother calling if it was just $1000, but $25,000 seemed worth his time. I looked and he had calculated his capital gains incorrectly and was paying more than $20,000 too much. I told him his $100 consulting fee was a bargain for him and he agreed.
I had one call from a lady who got one of those postcards in the mail about a class action lawsuit involving the type of car that she drove. She decided to fill it out and figured she would probably get $30. She ended up getting a million dollar settlement because of an incident involving the car that she had had an accident in. She was not hurt, but the settlement decided the car had a safety issue. She was used to dealing with a $70,000 income and now had to pay taxes on the interest from the settlement.
I believe that you can always find a way to get money if you need it, but you cannot always get your health back. The best investment I made towards my retirement was my RNY.

Good Morning! My weekend was pretty low key which was planned that way since my hubby had vaccine #2 Saturday morning. He's been dealing with general icky ness since about 12 hours after. He's doing better this morning it seems.

I am glad he is doing better. The first vaccine made me really sick the day after. I worried about the second and just had a slightly sore arm for a day. I am looking forward to summer and getting back to some normal activities with people who have all been vaccinated.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I used to have a long list of things that I craved. The strongest was probably freshly baked yeasty-smelling bread. When I had cravings, I would work hard to find a substitute that worked with my diet. I could make substitutes for most things, but not homemade bread.
Last week, I made spaghetti and bought a loaf of Italian bread to make garlic toast. In the past I would have kept eating slices of that bread until it was gone. This time I never touched the garlic toast or the leftover half loaf. Throwing it in the trash felt so good. Gnocchi is an Italian dumpling that I used to make for my family and I could never get enough of them.
With my Weigh****chers plan, I just cook the amount of gnocchi that matches the points that I want to eat and am completely satisfied. Now a one pound bag of it ends up thrown away because it is past its expiration date. Last year I made million dollar fudge for Christmas and after one piece it tasted too sweet and I threw it out. Normally Christmas is a huge party, but last year there was a lot of snow along with COVID and I spent the day alone.
I have lost all of my cravings since WW allowed me to have them guilt-free.

Good Morning Melody and Menuers,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I didn't have tons on my plate this weekend so I was sort of laxed on meal prep. We did food trucks Friday. I waited in line for those meatballs for a least 45 minutes but it felt like 2 hours and when I got there I kid you not the guy in front of me got the last one. It was so disappointing. They did have a Sweet and spicy chili so I got that and it was good but not what I really wanted.
Saturday we went out to eat again and I thought their special was a Porterhouse steak but when we got there DH had read Fridays specials and not Saturday so I ended up drinking wine and I had 2 wings. When we walked in the place was full and no one had on masks so I doubt we will be returning there anytime soon. However they do serve wine from a local winery and that is why I prefer to go there over some of the other choices.
Sunday we did church and they had a welcome luncheon (Carb laden food that I chose not to eat. They had a pot of coffee so I was content) to introduce us to all the Pastors. Since we have been married we have not frequented any church but now we are planning on becoming members of this Assembly of God church. They have made us feel comfortable and I do like the people who run this organization. I will need to take some classes starting next month to become and official member but at least at that point will have a place to call our Church. It's exciting and nerve racking at the same time considering I was raised Roman Catholic. This place is a whole different vibe but I did not want to go back to a Catholic church.
QOTD: Blue Cheese Even though peanut butter throws me off the rails quite often.
Accountability: I did good up till yesterday. Then I ate a bunch of crap including peanut butter filled pretzels. I also did no exercise yesterday. Today should be better.
