Yup...I'm home. I went home about two hours after surgery. I also didn't get staples. It feels like I wa**** with a bat on my upper back. No sleep and the pain meds is making my stomach pretty upset.

thanks!

Morning y'all! Melody, hopefully a switch in the pain meds will bring you some relief! Thinking of you!

QOTD - I ain't touching it! LOL. I sometimes add a vegan hotdog to a tortilla, so I will also ask, is a hotdog a taco?

Breakfast - fasting, so hot black coffee and water

Lunch - falafel, salad and soup at local Greek place

Snack - apple, mandarin and pepitas

Dinner - mint chocolate kale smoothie, and vegan pizza toast! (slice of toast, pizza sauce and a slice of vegan cheese)

I hope you all have a great day!

Christina

Lortab is hydrocodone and Tylenol. The combination makes me itch like crazy and it gives me upset stomach. I was talk by a surgeon that I can take Benadryl with that. I was told Benadryl should not help with the itching but also with the upset stomach. Taking the pain pill together with Benadryl always allowed me to have a good nap. I would take them both, then drift to sleep for an hour or 3. Being ready for the meds to work and not expect to move much after I took them was the key for me.

After any surgery - I would have my electric recliner ready, lots of pillows, even a neck pillow to hold my head in correct position when I would "pass out" . One surgery I had - was my back surgery. I used a piece of memory foam 3" padding, covered in a very soft fabric, placed under my whole back. That cradled my incisions enough to be comfortable. I needed a thick pillow under my knees, plus pillows on each side of me to support my arms. An electric recliner was ideal for me because I could recline it as little or as much as I needed. We only have electric reclining sofa/loveseat and I used that. Really practical. First few days after each of my surgeries I slept in recliner. It was much better for me, and I could get a rest.

Neck pillow: Until I got a real neck pillow I really liked, I used some round -long neck pillows that could be adjusted.

I found some like that in my local Aldi.

Good luck in your recovery.

Thanks for the advice! I took two Benadryl earlier and it didn't seem to do anything but alleviate the itchiness for a while. My stomach has also been very upset. I'm very tired but can't sleep.

I hope he worst of this is over and you will feel much better soon. I am glad your kitties were there to keep you company.

To me, if I eat the bun, it is a sandwich. If I eat a hot dog on a plate with a knife and fork, then it is not.
