What's on your Saturday menu?
on 3/13/21 3:55 am - Amarillo, TX
Good morning everyone! Hope y'all are doing well.
I slept a lot better last night. Still a lot of restlessness but much better than the night before . My right eye's vision is a little globier today. Getting my first injection Wednesday then a laser treatment in a few weeks.
I made pizza meatballs yesterday and they came out well. They are put up in the freezer ready for snacks and meals. I found out a few weeks ago that Silk has a new protein milk out and it's not to bad. A little high in calories but it doesn't make me gag or feel like you're eating snot. Not much planned today. I may get started on making shells and mermaid tails for my niece Rachel's birthday. I'm going to do some fondant and some with those vanilla melting chips. She is wanting a blueberry cheesecake so I'm still wondering how to incorporate the mermaid stuff on top of a cheesecake...LOL. Will be sure to post pics. I'm also making some cupcakes for everyone then too so they'll be decorated as well.
My pain has been really bad the past week and I'm struggling with that. Very frustrated.
QOTD: What is the most annoying question that people ask you regularly?
Mine is easy...did you play basketball? Comment wise it'd be "you sure are tall!" Like I hadn't noticed LOL
b: half a small banana, 8ozs silk chocolate protein milk and coffee
l: 8 ozs silk protein milk...chocolate or if we go to Walmart the plain unsweetened.
d: ??? I'm thinking of doing a mostly liquid diet today. We'll see.

Mornin' Weekenders!
I biked for 90 minutes yesterday - a bit ambitious as I'm really feeling it this morning (I did it almost every day last summer, but then, after the winter, my body's not used to it anymore. I obviously need to build up gradually!). DH is planning to bike today, but I should probably hold off. Maybe tomorrow...
nothing on tap for today except for take-out Chinese food at MIL's place tonight. The place we're getting it from specializes in noodles (so sort of lo mein-types of things). DH and I usually split an entree - I eat about 1/4 of it and he eats the rest. Noodles sit in my stomach like a brick, so at least I'm never likely to over-indulge when we order from this place..
QOTD: I can't think of any questions that I get asked regularly, let alone annoying ones - although some people do ask what I do with my time when they learn that I'm retired. I suppose I would have wondered the same thing before I joined the retiree crowd.
B: plain Greek yogurt with berry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote
AS: one Costco chicken skewer, coleslaw made with reduced-fat mayo + plain Greek yogurt
D: take-out Chinese noodle dish
ex: upper body weights for sure. Not sure about cardio. I'm probably good for this week.
have a great Saturday, all!
For most people retirement sounds like the time will be always empty and retired people are wondering what to do with themselves. My friend had what I thought was the perfect answer, "I have so many things to do now that I don't know how I ever found time to go to work."

Good Morning!
I haven't posted in a few days.. I really don't like to wake up on week days so I leave just enough time to put the dog out, feed her and have some water before I have to leave for work..
Menu has been on point this week - I feel I do best when I eat the same thing (other then dinner usually) all week for my meals/snacks..
QOTD: lately its been 'are you done losing weight yet? You're dissapearing' .. while I understand their concern.. I'm not at my goal yet and it's reallllly none of their business. When I tell them I probably have another 30 to lose they look like their brain is about to explode.. my team and I never actually discussed a weight goal for me.. as it's never been top of my mind.. it was always a focus on getting control of my diabetes, high cholesterol and BP! .. anyway.
B: fairlife latte (caramel flavoured coffee today!)
S: 120g skyr, 15g PB, 40g blueberries
L: 20g spinach/arugula mix, 15g light feta, 2oz shredded chicken, 1/2 tbsp dressing
S: protein bar
D: tbd

Learning my new normal, one day at a time.
on 3/13/21 8:48 am
I've set a goal for myself - I'd like to get down to 130lbs which is somewhere in the middle of the Normal BMI range for my height. Once I get there I can evaluate how I look/feel and go from there. It's been a big adjustment looking in the mirror as I've never weighed this little since I was probably 12.. Just taking it in stride and trying not to be held to a specific number - as long as I have a normal BMI and feel good!

Oh my goodness yes!!! I get so tired of that question! Friends and family ask me all the time so are you done losing yet? I'm like no I still have a ways to go to meet goal. They look at me like I have two heads or something. They always say well how much do you want to lose because you are withering away to nothing....you are so thin! Or I love it when they say you are going to make yourself sick....don't starve yourself. I'm sitting there thinking I am definitely not thin. You are just used to seeing me super obese and now I'm smaller. As for starving myself....haha I wish I had the willpower to starve myself, but my appetite is way too ferocious for that! I am nowhere near being in the underweight category. I'm right on the border of normal to overweight. They just don't get that. Sigh...

Wow we must all have to speak these same words. Even if I lost 10 more pounds my BMI would still not be 19. I also remind them I made a commitment to my health and I am not going to half ass it. I made a promise to myself and As long as I am healthy and the doctor approves I am going to continue. But when you become a doctor that specializes in weight loss and you know better let me know we can talk on that subject then.

Good morning! More rain overnight and my new roof got pushed bac****il the 25th. Please don't let it fall in before then! We've had to extend at the RV park park of the roof repair. We'll be here 15 days by the time we go home. Hope I don't accidentally axe murder my husband. It's good training for our retirement road trip next year. Really cold, windy and wet out right now so I don't know what the day is going to bring. We have to meet the construction guys at our house mid afternoon so we will plan around that. Maybe a bike ride. Maybe just a good book for the day. QoTD: how old are you. I'm on the phone all day for work and have had some of the same customers for 20-30 years. But I sound about 12 on the phone. Sometimes I just tell them (59 real soon) sometimes I make them guess first so they have pay for it with a little uncomfortableness, sometimes I just say I have a 39 year old kid.
menu. I did awesome on calories and protein yesterday and even got a bite of chocolate at the end of the day. I've got a fridge stuffed with food because we expected the grand girls and now I cannot figure out what eat.
B. Egg and a tiny bit of steak and avo
L: turkey cheese roll up and chicarones
D. Grilled sea bass and asparagus. I think.
