What's on your Sunday menu?
on 2/28/21 4:36 am - Amarillo, TX
Good Sunday morning everyone. Hope we enjoy this last day of February!
Nothing big planned for the day here. I need to run to the grocery store to get some JUST egg and a few other things.
I'm not sleeping well and it's catching up with me! I'm dragging to say the least. I've decided to make some things to try and sell on Etsy. All I have right now is tutorials. I'm broke right now and really could use some extra money. Social security is taking its sweet time. I think I'll be approved but the waiting is frustrating. I'm lucky to still have Medicaid and it seems it's been approved for the stimulator. All in all I'm in an ok place in my mind. Anxiety is a little high but I think it's in part due to the pain. The pain has been rather unbearable at times. I've been taking the max dose of Tylenol 4s and muscle relaxers...3 a day.
I see my psychologist Tuesday and I'm excited to get back to work with my mental health. It is much needed and it'll only get better if I try. The hole I'm in is getting more shallow...I see light! Yay!
QOTD: What smell brings back great memories?
For me it's a weird one. My grandpa worked a lot with tools and such..he always had a slight oil smell on him. He was always tinkering with tools and other things. Kind of like how wd40 smells. Also potato soup! My grandma made the best ever.
b: GF DF EF baked donut, chicken sausage and coffee
l: split pea soup and a tbs of chao vegan cheese
d: some kind of Mexican inspired fish and some cauliflower Spanish rice
s: strawberries, banana and GF toast
Opal from yesterday, hope it brings you a smile.

Mornin' Weekenders!
It looks foggy out there but I don't think we're supposed to get any weird weather. Maybe it's the snow melting (YAY!!). It's supposed to be in the 40s all week - and 50 by the weekend - double YAY!!!
we were out all day yesterday, so we'll probably stick around most of the day today. We're meeting the two moms (mine and DH's) for coffee later this morning, though. Not sure what else is up, although I need to spend some time reading for my classes since I'm pretty far behind. I'm really interested in the topics so I really don't mind the reading.
QOTD: this sounds about as weird as Melody's, or maybe even weirder, but every time I smell potting soil, I think of my great grandmother who died when I was 16. She was a master gardener and wonderful with house plants, too - so that's probably why (I, unfortunately, did not inherit that gene. I kill even supposedly idiot-proof plants).
B: protein shake, coffee with half & half
MS: the other half of the "thintastic" bagel sandwich I had yesterday (with bacon, egg white, avocado, and tomato)
L: I'm not sure how long we'll be at the coffee place, so I'll take a protein bar with me in case we run over lunch. But if we're home in time, then either ham or 1-2 Costco chicken skewers
AS: L&F yogurt and 1/2 a protein pumpkin muffin
D: Indian curry (chicken and veggies - no rice)
have a great day, all!
Good morning y'all...
QOTD - My mom's pillow.
Breakfast - fasting, so hot black coffee and water. I think I'm a bit dehydrated so definitely going to focus on water.
Lunch - hitting up a local Greek food place, lots of good vegan options. I'm having a massage with my mom and daughter today (daughter treating me). Hoping it will give me some relief after almost two weeks of migraines.
Snack - fruit smoothie
Dinner - leftovers, time to clean out the fridge
I hope you guys enjoy a peaceful Sunday!
Christina
Let it begin with me.

Morning!
I plan on spending my day cleaning the house, getting groceries done and doing some meal prepping for the week. I start a new class tomorrow (Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias) yay.. so I have that to look forward to for the next 12 weeks. I'm 90% sure the boyfriend and I have decided we are doing a birthday road trip.. as long as the COVID risk stays the same or gets better. We plan on driving from our house out to the Rocky Mountains. When all is said and done it's something like 6,690km round trip, in 11 days. I am beyond excited to be doing this with him.. while I've done the trip multiple times (I lived in Saskatchewan for many years, with family in Ontario) he's never done the drive.. so I know it'll be fun.
QOTD: Gasoline on a cold day. Growing up we did a lot of ice fishing in the winter.. the smell of gas on a cold day brings me back to those times and the memories I hold close to my heart of my dad and the rest of my family.
B: fairlife latte
S: hb egg & 1/2 Greek yogurt bagel
L: chicken & veg
S: 1/2 protein shake and cold brew
D: chicken and veg

Learning my new normal, one day at a time.
Good morning! Yesterday was a busy day and a big success. We determined that even the littlest granddaughter can handle 4 miles perched precariously on her bike bobbing and weaving along. She almost took out a little family, but they were good spirited about it! There was a ridiculous birthday milk shake that included a cupcake and a Twinkie. Yummy outdoor lunch. Lot's of chasing around. Jacuzzi time, followed by hot bubble baths for them (I'm planning on one today for recovery!) easy dinner since they didn't eat their lunch because we ordered that milk shake as an appetizer. So I reheated their lunch. Watched the new Tom and Jerry movie. Then reading and finally, finally, sleep. For them. I could not fall asleep and was up til midnight, and they got me up at 6. This is me and my husband today.
Today, we are taking the bikes to our favorite ride along the harbor and Shelter Island and having lunch outdoors at the new Mexican place on the water. It's become a real fun go to for us. We get in 8 miles and reward ourselves with lunch. Then my neighbors are having a small gathering at their little "shop" sort of like a garage that they've made into a gathering place. It's perfect with doors that open on both ends, a large outdoor seating area and we can be under the cover if the weather get's icky. Which it will not today. I need to go to Trader Joe's and find something to take a treat, and I'll throw in some Parm Crisps and good cheese so I have something to nibble on. Taking a big mug of coffee for me to keep me out of the wine.
QoTD: Hydraulic oil, because my husband came home from work as an elevator mechanic every day smelling of it.
Menu: Dicey, but as best I can,
B: 1/2 Chompie, 1/4 Parm crisp mix with nuts
L: bacon wrapped shrimp and refried beans
D: Not sure if we'll need it after happy hour with the neighbors, but if so, a quick bit of ham steak and salad
Peace Everyone!

Happy Sunday all! It's been a minute since I've posted. Ended up having to extend my fmla because I was still feeling pretty lousy and then I have been going through some personal things that has made me super depressed. I am feeling a lot better though and start back work tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. It will be nice to get back into a routine, but I am slightly scared to check my emails and see what all I've missed. The depression is still there, but I've just been taking it day by day and hopefully by starting back work this week it will provide a nice distraction from my worries.
My weight has been up and down. It dropped significantly while I was sick because I couldn't really eat much. Then once I was able to eat solid foods again I gained 10 pounds back real quick! I have since lost 6 of those 10 pounds so 4 more to go. Fingers crossed! I have completely stopped tracking my calories which I plan on getting back to this week. I also did not weigh for a whole week which is why I think I gained those 10 pounds so quick.....that and not tracking what I ate. So back to it!
QOTD: The smell of tobacco. My grandfather always smoked a pipe and their whole house smelled of it. Also the smell of my grandmothers perfume. When she passed I got a bottle of her perfume. I was a young child then and I accidentally spilled it on one of my teddy bears. For years I'd just smell the bear and be reminded of her. My grandmother has been gone for over 30 years now and my grandfather for over 20, but those smells always take me back.
B: Coffee and a protein shake
L: another protein shake or oatmeal
D: Maybe soup or scrambled eggs with cottage cheese
S: L&F Greek yogurt & a banana
