Left side bulge
Hello all. RNY in 2004. I have been concerned and finally found a bariatric surgeon to see about this but I am terrified of what he might find. I have a feeling of a bulge on the left side at my rib cage. When I eat my stomach feels like it's is in a knot and a cramp at the same time. I have a lot of gastric noise and I know that comes with the territory but the rest of it I'm not sure about. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm afraid. Would love for you to share your experiences. Thank you.
Try to relax until you can see a doc. Hernia is the very clear possibility, and that can be fixed really fast and with not many days off.
If you don't have severe pain or tenderness, try to relax.

Thank you. It's not severe or tender and that's what's keeping me from going to the er. It's just like "somethings there". No pain other than the knot and folding feeling I have. The older I get the more I panic over these things. You start to realize how precious life is. Your words are a comfort thank you so much for responding.
As we get older, our tissue becomes more fragile and if you already had a small hernia there, it could have got bigger.
2 years ago I finally addressed a bulge had in my groin, and discovered it was a hernia. But as I went to a hernia surgeon, he found 2 more (small), one, umbilical that i never knew was there and another, a small internal.
Best if you can see a family doc ASAP, they can send you to a proper specialist. If you have a hernia, it may be best to find a surgeon who know and operates on people who had WLS. Personally - I would ask around and find the best surgeon in my area to perform that surgery.
I had 4 hernia surgeries over the years. 1 was by a good surgeon but one that would not waste his time to check everything and did not take his time to get all that air out of my gut cavity. I had a gas pain for 2 full days.
3 others were done by REALLY great surgeons (2 by one and 1 by another), *****ally took their time, and neither surgery caused any gas pain. Seriously. It makes a HUGE difference. Ask your local bariatric community for recommendation.
BTW:- the bulge, It also be a cyst, or any type of stuff, like i.e. lump of fat (I had one like that on my leg). they grow just because. A sample of lipoma (fat deposits) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n91-aMATNY&feature=youtu.be
