What's on your Thursday menu?
G'morning all!
We have gone from one extreme to the other. 10 days ago we had fire evacuation orders due to unusual heat and dryness. Now we've had non stop rain for 3 days and flash flood warnings and some people had to evacuate. Tell me again climate change is a hoax.
QOTD: I had a logistical problem with one of my events and told our CEO I know this seems trivial in your world. He said every problem for every person in their world is big. You always have to look at it from their view. No problem is small. I couldn't love the man any more. He was the most empathetic CEO I ever worked with. I apply that advice to my every day life, even when my kids were little and their problems seemed so trivial.
Edit: one more I remembered from my dad. In a marriage you bend to keep the peace but don't bend so far that you break. My dad showed it to me with a branch.

Good morning everyone,
I'm back from my isolation and my mild COVID experience. Honestly if my son hadn't tested positive, I would have just assumed I had a bad cold and sucked it up. I had done pretty well keeping up with work from home but of course came back to some unexpected issues once I got back to the office.
Food has been on track - I've been staying around 700 calories and the scale in moving little by little. Small victories keep me trudging forward.
QOTD: The best advice I got was from my grandmother... "make good friends - ones who will be there through good and bad". I just turned 50 on Friday and I met my best friend in kindergarten. We've been through thick and thin together! I consider this group "good friends" - soooo honest and supportive.
B - protein shake
L - chicken breast & asian salad
S - greek yogurt
D - taco's!
S - turkey pepperettes if needed
Happy belated bday!
You are very lucky to have your kindergarten friend, I have moved so much that I am barely in touch with my college friends.

When I was 17 I had a summer job as a clerk in an office at the Air Force Reserve base. One day I was sitting at the desk with all my work caught up and nothing to do. An old colonel (and he was probably in his 50's but looked ancient to me) asked me why I was not working.
When I explained that all my work was done, he told me to never look like I was not needed. He took an old report out of the file cabinet and told me to sit with a pencil and blacken every period on the paper. And when I was done to find another report to do it to.
I learned an important lesson that day. If your work is done, find something else to do. I never blackened periods on another report, but always made sure I found something useful to do when I was in an office and being paid for my time.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I am back at my place today. I walked with my friends this morning, did my laundry, made the bed, and put all the laundry/stuff from my week with Mike away. Next up is shower, shopping, and long dog walk.
QOTD: Funny, but the best advice I ever received was also when I was 17. When I gave birth to my eldest DD, EVERYONE wanted to give me advice because they assumed I was an uninformed teenager. But I had a good role model in my parents and I read a LOT. When the nurses at the hospital tried to convince me not to nurse my daughter I told them that I was going to do it and they needed to bring my daughter to me at regular intervals (they didn't stay in the room in those days). There were many other instances when my judgement was sometimes better than the so-called advice. The best was my daughter's pediatrician who told me to trust my instincts - that I knew what was best for my daughter. He had spent enough time with me to make that statement. His support gave me the confidence to feel that I was a good mother.
