What's on your Thursday menu?
Good morning!
I'm up early because...dogs. It's chilly, so I have the heater on and a hot cup of coffee. Figured I could go ahead and get us started.
QOTD - What's the best advice you got and took, and you're glad you did? This can be life, career, health, relationship, etc.
For me, the best advice I ever received was when I was 17. First boss I ever had; his name was Frank. I was so mad about, (no idea what it was now). He told me "You can be right, or you can be reconciled. You can't be both." To this day, it has stuck with me.
Breakfast- none, fasting, so hot black coffee and water
Lunch - last of my papas guisadas with vegan cheese on tortillas
Snack - fruit smoothie
Snack - apple with peanut butter
Snack - triscuits with chickpea salad
Dinner - no plans, but we have the kids! So, we will figure something out!
Have a great day everyone!
Christina
Let it begin with me.

Good Morning and Happy Friday-Eve! Is it just me or this week loooong?!? Thanks for starting us off, I'm enjoying an extra cup of coffee right now.
Accountability: Quite a bit better than it's been. I really struggled this morning wanting Chompies toast but instead made my coffee, I need to take that as a win!

Mornin'!
I have both my classes this morning - and a lecture that I signed up for this afternoon. So lots of Zooming. Fortunately, DH goes into work today (first time since Thanksgiving that they're back in the office, but rotating days), so I should have decent bandwidth. I added a few new things to my "to do" list for this coming month, so I'll be able to keep myself and my brain occupied through the rest of the winter, thankfully..
weight is up two lbs this morning. Calories were low plus I had two exercise sessions yesterday. I blame the instant miso soup. I sometimes drink it because it's got so much sodium in it that I feel bloated and uncomfortable (thus, it'll usually stop snack attacks), but then it usually shows up on the scale the next morning, too. Six of one, half dozen of the other...(well, not exactly since miso soup weight is all water - whereas snack attack weight can be real!)
QOTD: this advice actually came from a book. I read "Your Money or Your Life" about 30 years ago when it first came out. Some of the stuff in there wasn't exactly great advice (and one or two things were kind of awful advice, in my opinion), but a lot of it was really good and completely changed my perspective on money. I went from being so far in debt that I couldn't leave this miserable job I was in at the time because I couldn't afford to, to being comfortable enough that I was able to retire at age 58 (well, if it weren't for the fact that DH is still working and thus carries the health insurance, I wouldn't have been able to walk that early, but I could have left around now, at age 60). I'm so glad I read that fairly early in life and made a lot of changes that really paid off later.
TSS: 5y7m
B: protein shake, coffee with half & half
MS: Greek yogurt with 1/2 diced mango
L: turkey breast slices, small sweet potato
AS: 1/2 protein muffin, L&F yogurt

ex: cardio!
have a great day, all!

Good Thursday mornin everyone.
what a ****ty night. So so much pain and a really bad headache. I've got a lot to do today. Some cleaning and we need to get some groceries. I get the trial for the spinal cord stimulator tomorrow morning and since I can't shower for a week I don't really want to go anywhere. I am ocd when it comes to being clean so I'll be heavily paranoid about it. LOL We also need to pick up a prescription.
I've really been out of it with my food struggles. I am going to get serious. I haven't been horrid but I need to reign in my afternoon and evening snacking. I have some lovely pho broth concentrate packets that I'm going to start sipping on in the evening. I'm also trying to cut back on caffeine. My retina specialist told me I need to cut back for a bit until we know the eyes have stopped bleeding. So I bought some decaffeinated black tea and will be making chai teas and have some decaffeinated plain coffee to have a second cup if I want some.
qotd: my therapist told me an analogy that hit home. If you drop your phone and it doesn't break, do you keep dropping it to let it break? Why would you let one slip of your food choice ruin everything for that day. I am an all or nothing type of person but that really hit home for me. I still have moments of all or nothing but it has saved me so many times.
b: oatmeal, coffee
l: mushroom soup, turkey sausage crumbles and vegan cheese
d: I'm not sure at this point.
s: popcorn, pho broth and a kiwi
have a good day everyone!
Mel
I like that analogy, I am going to have to remember it.

Good morning all! My throat is still very sore this morning, but it's not as swollen and feels as if it FINALLY may be starting to get better. My PCP advised me to go to an express care last night since they are still not seeing any sick patients in office (only virtual visits). She was nice enough not to charge me for the virtual visit, but wanted me to be seen in person to be properly evaluated and diagnosed. So I went last night and they tested me for strep, mono and COVID......all came back negative. The doctor was very concerned though that my tonsils were so swollen along with the lymph nodes in my neck. She said she kind of wanted to go ahead and send me to the ER that night to get on some IV pain meds and get some fluids in me, but also wanted to keep me out of the ER if at all possible since I'm immunocompromised. So instead she put in an emergent referral for me to see an ENT today and get an X-ray of my throat to rule out a peritonsillar abscess. So I'm just waiting on the call from them. In the meantime they gave me a steroid and a strong antibiotic injection and sent me home with a different antibiotic, prednisone and some mouthwash. Told me if I start to feel worse to head to the ER. Luckily I think I'm starting to feel some relief though! Thank God!
I still have no appetite though and still feel pretty nauseous. And I know it's because I'm so dehydrated. I feel just like I did right after surgery where I didn't want to eat or drink anything because I was so sick from dehydration. I'm trying to force myself to drink today because I don't want it to get any worse. Been munching on crushed ice and will try to get my protein shakes in today. The last few days I was only getting in a few sips of water, and like a half a cup of hot tea or coffee and that's it. I did manage to get in one bite of jello yesterday before I gagged and had to stop. Sigh.....not this again! Good news is I've lost all my regain and then some and am only 4 pounds away from goal now. Yay....I guess?
QOTD: One of the speakers at my high school graduation 20 years ago said "just remember the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese." For some reason that has always stuck with me to this day.
B: Fit frappe ?
L: protein shake
D: protein shake or broth
Probably not much else since I have no appetite. Will focus more on getting fluids in since I have not been doing well at all with that the past few days. My lips are so dry and cracked. Ugh
