What's on your Tuesday Menu?
Good morning! Great meme. I swear I will never wear another pair of pants that cut into me. Those days are behind me, dammit. I think the rain is moving out. We've had a terribly windy, cold wet 24 hours. It's like our house is falling apart with pieces of eave painting flying past and shrubbery everywhere. Auntie Em, Auntie Em! I didn't know I was in Kansas. Give me my sunshine tax back.
Took the brown dog to the vet yesterday. We are doing a complete work up on him to be cautious, but, she honestly thinks he just has bad genetics and got stuck with a barrel body. Poor boy. I completely understand how he feels. We'll know more by the end of the week, but it was nice to get validation that we are not feeding him to much or too often. He's being checked for anything thyroid, arthritis, hip dysplasia, blood and uranalysis. Details to come by the end of the week. Poor brown dog. He had to sedated for hip x rays and he's such a nervous nelly by nature. It was a hard day for him. They let our other dog stay with him though to help with the anxiety. I thought that was pretty cool. The two of them are PB and J. Milk and cookies, etc.

Liz, We just had a big discussion about this. I should ask the ladies in this group. Are leggings work appropriate? With a long top, tunic or dress over them? Are leggings less appropriate the blue jeans? I love my leggings, but only wear them with a tunic type top. We are looking at redoing our dress policy at work, currently business casual Mon-Thur, blue jeans on Friday only. My new ops guy wants to transition to nice jeans are ok anytime, but he thinks leggings are NEVER acceptable at work. He says it's like wearing sweat pants. I'd be glad for some professional ladies input!
I see this in our workplace. We have no dress code It is too hard to say leggings are aloud but yoga pants are not. Us older folks will wear the longer shirts and it looks work appropriate but some of the youngins just aren't as conservative and it gets too tight and to short on the tops. I have even seen belly shirts. So I am going to agree No leggings. And I wish we had it here.
I have said this more than once when my dad was alive he never let us wear sweat pants out. They were for lounging in the house and the gym ONLY. So I am sticking with no leggings in the work place.

I think nice leggings with an appropriate top (longer) should be okay these days. I worked in stuffy insurance which didn't move to casual until 2017 and I am in my mid-60's now. My guy friend was a CFO at several companies and he agrees with me (he has 2 daughters in their 40's with corporate jobs).

I'll chime in for leggings.
It all depends on your office environment and your in-person interaction with clients. You might think leggings are OK with long tops but it's a slippery slope and down the road people might show up with non work appropriate leggings or ensembles. I think most people will be happy if you just change the dress code to jeans (good jeans - not thorn) for every day.
In my last work place we went through this just for Friday casual, and they had to put a stop to it and set hard rules. People were starting to show up in sweats on Fridays!

I sent someone home because they came in their sweats...turns out he was running late so just came in his sleep sweats. I said that I appreciated the effort but no.

I've always considered leggings appropriate for business casual attire as long as they're not skin tight and you're wearing a long-ish top or tunic. I think with the right top they look more professional than jeans, to be honest. I wore leggings to work all the time when I worked (granted, we had a pretty loose dress code there - it wasn't anything goes, but it was still pretty loose)
Leggings look fine if they are with a long tunic. I agree with jeans only on Fridays. You will run into problems with certain people and have to address them as they happen.
Back in the early 1990's I worked for EDS and women had to wear a dress with a jacket or a suit with a skirt. No pants at all ever. One day a rival company put up a bulletin board with a picture of people in suits and a message of how their people in cool business casual were not stiff and outdated.
Within a week, our dress code was changed to allow much more variety. I still remember a bunch of us going on a shopping spree and finding clothes that were not not black or navy.
