What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?

Quick check in from my phone for accountability. One extra glass of wine last night, but also a very low cal, high protein dinner on the road. We are ensconced in our friend's hone in AZ. He's been 100% remote for weeks so it's a good safe place to get a little socializing.
QoTD: California is a hot mess. Especially Southern California where we are at. Places are going out of business left and right. Some places are intentionally disregarding the rules in a " lose my business or risk fines" attitude. I feel awful for everyone. I am required to be at work as an essential business in support of the military, but we are masked up and my office is very well spaced out.

Ohio has a new strain of the virus, the Columbus strain. It spreads more quickly. I know a lot of people in the hospital or back at home, but still quite sick. Christmas did not help. The vaccine distribution is very slow. In my county about 1% of have received it. Not much better anywhere in this state.

QOTD- We are supposed to have restrictions but some businesses are ignoring them. The gyms are closed and restaurants are supposed to only do take out, but some are not following this. I'm still working remote but my boss is pressuring me to come back to the office, since most people do not wear masks I don't feel comfortable returning. I'd like to wait until I have the vaccine, but that may be a while.

My Mom is supposed to be coming home from the rehab facility on Monday. She did get her first vaccine, and was told to come back for the 2nd which is good news. I got my second shingles shot yesterday and made an appointment with my bariatric NP for Monday.

I'm still struggling with the events of last week, I can't see to stop watching CNN and looking at them on the internet. I'm trying to stop doing it. OK we all have someone who has drunk the kool-aid for me it's my brother. He called my Mom and upset her so she called me to vent. His latest is that President Biden will be killed, and Kamala Harris will become president and when she does we will be run by China, because they both have ties to China. I have no idea where he gets this crap. But he needs to quit upsetting our Mom. She tells him she doesn't want to talk about politics but he just keeps going, and does not listen to reason. So my Mom keeps asking "what did I do wrong?" I tell her nothing, she says maybe I dropped him on his head when he was a baby. So I talked her down...

Our governor has activated the National Guard, so hopefully we won't have a repeat of the invasion of the capitol here in Salem. It wasn't as bad as DC, but was aided by a republican congressman who opened the door for them. Hopefully this will wake us up to what these right wing extremists are capable of.

Happy freaking Friday. I never thought it would get here. Super late post for me, but I had a court call and then a doctor appointment. Just trying to make it to 6 so I can log off. No real plans for the weekend, but it's like 90 degrees here today, so maybe a drive in the car to get my mother out of the house.

QOTD: California is a disaster area and LA County is beyond bad. 1 in 3 residents is Covid positive (if I'm remembering the story correctly) Anyway, the only time I leave the house is if I need to go to the office or pick up food. I'll also go to outdoor spin but I stay masked at this point. It's beyond crazy and I'm doing everything I can to keep my mom healthy.
