What's on your Saturday menu?

Good morning everyone!
I hope this new year is treating you well so far. I had waaaaay to many black eyed peas yesterday but stayed accountable. I made them from dry in the instant pot and boy....they were tasty!
I also got a bit of bad news yesterday. My best friend from HS found out her mom died suddenly. She is in Maine and doesn't feel safe coming back here. Her sister really needs me to be there. She is kind of on her own now...unless she decides to move to California to live with her dad. Her funeral is Thursday and I'm going to go to be there for both of them. Her mom and me didn't really get along...I think she hated me at times. That's unimportant now. I'm going to call the sister here around 9 or 10 to see if she needs anything. It's out of my comfort zone but I need to be there for them. So if you could send them some positive energy!
qotd: Is there a food tradition for you and your families on NYD? Mine is definitely black eyed peas...they are supposed to bring you luck...as much as I ate yesterday I should have allllll the luck.
b: egg, chicken sausage, GF bread, plant based butter and coffee(almond creamer)
l: 1/2 cup black eyed peas and 1 oz ham
d: taco meat, tostada shell, tomatoes, chao cheese
s: popcorn, GF raisin bread and ???
Mel
Mornin' Weekenders!
sorry to hear about your friend's mom. I'd be a little hesitant about attending a funeral, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It must be so hard on your friend not to be able to attend her own mother's funeral!
I had too many snacks yesterday and ended up 300 calories over my limit. Good Lord - I need to stop this RIGHT NOW!!! I made spinach lasagna for DH out of the leftover noodles and cheese (and had a very small piece), but the problem was it takes so long to make that we didn't eat until around 7:00. My worst time of day for bad eating is late afternoon, so I just CANNOT eat dinner that late. I would have been fine if we'd have eaten an hour or two earlier. You'd think by now I'd have learned my lesson..
I need to do some work for one of my organizations today and tomorrow, so that's pretty much my weekend. I'll have to find some online things to add to my schedule for this week so I won't go bonkers. Between things not really starting up again for another week or two and the snow and cold, this could be a L-O-N-G week.
QOTD: no food traditions. When we lived in the South, my mother made black-eyed peas and ham once in awhile (and I think greens) since it was the tradition down there, but I'm not a fan.
TSS: 5y6m
B: cottage cheese with strawberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: turkey chili (still haven't eaten this, even though it's been on the menu for the last three or four days!)
AS: L&F yogurt with raspberries, protein pumpkin muffin
D: small piece of lasagna, caesar salad with 6 croutons and light caesar dressing
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning! Monte and I got our walk out of the way already this morning. My hip is feeling much better, though not great, so I think I will do another big stretch or yoga video in a bit. The hubs is going to go to the driving range for a while, that gives me a nice quiet window to do yoga then take a nice steamy shower. It's our plan to take the bikes to the bay for a ride this afternoon. I see one restaurant is doing outside seating, and we may try to get a bite there. I am SO tired of cooking. Yesterday I did great on exercise by adding an 8 mile bike ride after my morning of stretch/yoga and great on food. But I did not make hardly anything on my menu. I was just completely over the damn kitchen. So today I am going to stick closer to plan and pre make dinner this morning while he's at the range.
QoTD: None really. But my neighbor read an article about making a lemon pig to bring good luck to the year and posted it, so a bunch of us elected to try it. Because, we all could use a little good luck these days, right?
So here's my lucky lemon pig with a shiny penny in it's "mouth" He's got sage ears and thyme eyes and tail:
menu:
B: 1/4 C homemade ham and bean soup with a fried egg (i believe adding an egg to anything makes it a breakfast food)
L: TBD
D: pepper stuffed with ground turkey, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, onions
S: jerky or cheese whisps if needed. I'm out of toffee finally. A little sad, a little relieved about that!
Peace Everyone!

Happy Saturday all! I'm debating on going to get my hair trimmed today...it needs it badly! But it's supposed to rain all day today so I kinda just want to stay in. I just ordered my groceries to be delivered. I am going to be trying the Fairlife milk for the first time. Anyone here drink that one? Is it good? I'm a bit nervous as I have only ever used real milk, but it tears up my stomach so bad now that I haven't bought milk in forever! I miss it though! I tried the Silk, but could not stand it... gag! The only way I can drink it is in my smoothies. So fingers crossed I like the Fairlife! If not I think I'm just gonna give up on milk forever...makes me sad though.
Accountability was really good again yesterday even though I had 2 squares of dark chocolate.....I was still within my calorie limit. My regain pounds are still coming off as well....thank goodness!
QOTD: Yes, every year my family has hoppin' John (black eyed peas and rice) which is supposed to be for luck or health and collard greens which is for money/wealth. We normally have ham as well. Of course I did not eat any of the rice...mom made a separate pot of just black eyed peas for me.
B: coffee w/Splenda x 2 (I'm now drinking my coffee w/o cream...yay!)
B2: protein shake
L: 2 oz chicken breast & carrots w/hummus
D: leftover soup
S: Fit frappe

Huge Fairlife fan over here! I get the 2% and add it to coffee. I feel incredibly sick with regular milk but this has been perfect.

I only drink fairlife now. I make a latte everyday. At 14g of protein in 250ml it's been a life saver for me in getting my protein goals. (My program doesn't recommend the use of any kind of protein supplement - but does recommend milk as a good protein source)
I don't notice a difference in taste or texture - tastes like milk to me.

I use fairlife fat free; I've added a warm milk with a bit of SF flavor to my nightly routine.
If the fair life doesn't work for you, try A2 milk -- I know lactaid takes out lactose, A2 takes out a different enzyme that people are sensitive to;I don't remember what the enzyme is but it seems to work for some people.

Good morning everyone. It's a rainy day here today. I woke up far too early, but what's new! I did well with my food yesterday and my fluids.
I really despise the month of January. It's cold, rainy, and dark. I need to really focus on being positive. I am hopeful that things are going to get better. I just always struggle this time of year, even without covid.
I am going to get out of the house today, even if it's just for a drive.
Food plan for today-
2 eggs, 2 oz black forest ham, 1 oz fat free cheddar
1 can albacore tuna, onion, pickles and skinny girl poppy seed dressing
Baked turkey with mustard
boiled egg if needed
Lots of water and hot tea, vitamins always.
