Scope 12/18/20

So I had my RnY in 2010. Was 347 and lost down to 233 in about 10 months but let my emotional eating and mental disabilities get me and have gained and lost the same 50-60 pounds ever since. So I am a RnY failure but that's not really why I am posting.

I had an EGD (upper scope) on my stomach to confirm what I already knew but just didn't know how bad. He found a hernia and ulcer. During his extremely brief visit with me after the procedure he mentioned the hernia is probably big enough to fix but didn't say anything else.

Mind you I am tired as all get out but that is another issue so maybe he did mention my ulcer and pouch.

Today I had a f/u with my PCP and she didn't go over all the results of the scope. Saving that for my f/u with surgeon but she did mention distention of the pouch, least I think that is what she said. I have been looking online and not really getting a clear understanding of what that means. Anyone have a clue?

A distended stomach is a term usually used to refer to distension or swelling of the abdomen and not of the stomach itself. When the term is used in this manner, a number of different diseases and conditions can cause abdominal distension. These conditions can be related to digestion, such as malabsorption or lactose intolerance, or to disturbances in bowel function, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or constipation. Bloating is another term that is sometimes used to refer to a swollen belly. Consumption of high-fiber foods can lead to intestinal gas and bloating. Less commonly, ovarian cysts or other types of tumors can cause the appearance of a distended abdomen. The accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, known as ascites, can cause the appearance of distension. Ascites has a number of causes, including cirrhosis of the liver.

Thank you for the reply. Now I can't wait for the f/u to find out what may cause my disended stomach. I wonder is there need to be concerned? I don't have any ovaries so it can't be that and just had my liver checked. It is fatty so maybe it is that. Have to wait til the 4th to find out I guess. Again, thanks for the reply. ?
