What's on your Monday Menu?

Coffee and murder docs--is there a better way to spend a morning? I can't think of one :) Enjoy!
PS Fennel sausage sounds divine. I hope its great!
My family makes homemade sausage but I make sure mine is just seasoned with Salt pepper and sometimes some fresh garlic. I am not a fennel person at all. I very rarely order sausage out in fear that it has fennel. When my bro sneaks fennel in his meatballs(yuck) he magic bullets it to a powder so I don't see it and the powder give off more flavor . Maybe that is what they did so you do not hit a whole seed.
Also I want to congratulate you on hitting your fitness goals over the holiday it is not an easy thing to do.

Good morning all! I took off work today and tomorrow and so glad I did! I need these couple of days at home to get my eating back on track and clean my house a bit. Should have just taken off the whole week, but I had nothing going on and I don't want to use all my PTO. Accountability was better yesterday, but still not where I want it. Had the last slice of moms fruit cake she sent home with me. She insisted and I was going to have fruit for snack anyway....so technically I got my fruit in, just some cake too. Sigh... Thank God all the sweets in my house are now gone!
QOTD: No way! I always wanted to experience living in the old days, but I don't think I could do it permanently. I am way too spoiled for that. A couple years ago my brother and I sent our parents to an old Victorian farmhouse bed and breakfast for their anniversary. My mom calls me their first night saying "did you know they don't even have televisions in the rooms??!!! What am I supposed to do?!" Haha so if my parents had a rough time going one weekend without modern conveniences then I know I wouldn't last! Lol

Good Monday morning everyone.
I am waiting for 8 to roll around so I can call the eye specialist's office. I'm super anxious about it. I know I'll probably need a laser treatment but I am also sure they won't be able to do it this week. With social security taking their sweet ass time my insurance will stop on Friday. I have 3 appointments in the first week of January. One of them with my neurosurgeon. One with the pain management center which if I don't have coverage I can't do. The clinic that I go to that will pick up other stuff does not include it. At least they'll cover the neurosurgeon!
I'm trying really hard to stay at least a little positive. I ate better yesterday...not great but no dairy or gluten. Will be reigning it in calorie wise today. My weight is up...way up. Also due in part to TOM.
One of my moms cousins died last week and her grave side service is today. If I don't get in to the doctor today my mom will go. They(my aunt and mom) feel like they have to go. With COVID and the type of people that'll be there I'd rather them not go. She had a heart attack. But still with COVID going around rampant here I'd wish they wouldn't go. My family has this weird thing about funerals.
qotd: I'm fine where I'm at! I talked with my grandpa a lot about his life. There was one time he was bucked off a horse and it broke his arm. I mean the bone went through the skin. He didn't want to see a doctor(he was 10ish) because of the cost and he tried to tell everyone he was fine that it'd heal. Then I heard a lot of the stories from war time. He served in N.Africa and in Italy...and some of the Czech area right after the war. Man...it puts into perspective your own issues in this modern era. I'm not saying our issues aren't bad for us but we have so many more tools and resources that make our life a lot more comfortable.

Related to your grandpa not setting his broken arm--we were watching A Christmas Story for the billionth time and for the first time I noticed that after Flick gets his tongue stuck to the flagpole and the fire & police come, he gets sent back to class, lol. I mean, can you imagine a scenario in which that kid got back to class, now? He'd have been sent home and mom would have sued the school and had the teacher fired... People were a lot tougher.
Hope your family stays safe today!
