What's on your Thursday Menu?
Good morning, Happy Friday Eve!
QOTD - Pretty much all of it. I participate because I have kids, and now I am basically married to Santa (he loves Christmas) but for me, I am always so relieved when it's over. Everything from the gift giving, to the need to conform to what television and commercials tell us is "picture perfect"...Yeah no thanks! However, as I get older I realize how important it is to recognize love languages of those around me and celebrate what makes OTHERS happy. So, here we are!
Breakfast - fasting so Emtea and black coffee
Lunch - soyrizo, kale and tofu scramble on tortillas with vegan cheese again. So good!
Snack - fruit smoothie
Snack - apple with peanut butter, pepitas with dried fruit
Snack - triscuits with vegan cheese and tofurkey, skinny popcorn with nooch and louisiana hot sauce
Dinner - Beyond burger (no buns, but tater tots!)
Have a great day everyone!

Your answer resonates with me so much. My mom is Mrs.Clause. She loves Christmas decorations. I wouldn't even have a tree if it were up to me...let alone all these elves and lights and such. But it makes her happy so I go along with it.

Good morning, all! We were going to get 2 or so inches of snow here in the DC area...but we had a tiny bit of snow, some sleet, and a ton of rain. I had to go move my car (I was parked behind Kris) about half an hour ago and the door wouldn't open. I checked that I wa****ting the unlock button on the key fob. I was. It was FROZEN shut!
I did my 3rd (of the week) zoom exercise class this morning. I hate waking up at 6:45 (I mean I tend to be awake but laying there, tired) but getting done with my workout by 8 am is just the best.
I am a Scrooge about Elf on a Shelf. I don't get it, I am not creative enough to find insane things to have this toy "destroy" and frankly I don't want to clean up after this fictional idiotic elf. Yeah, I am a total Scrooge about it!
B: Leftover chicken/poblano/onion fajita mixture with cheese. I make this like once a week. I don't think anyone else loves it like I do but I am the cook so oh well!
L: Leftover chicken, broccoli, rice from last night
D: No idea - Kris is having salmon and fries, I may cook myself up something or just have more leftovers
Have a great day everyone and stay warm and dry and safe if you're in the storm's path.
PS I just heard that France's President (Macron) has COVID. Not shocking (given the numbers) but he's 42...and his wife is 67?! Not sure why that is surprising given how often old men marry young women but wowza!

I so agree with the elf on a shelf. I find it so irritating and it just drives me nuts.

I am 65 and have had a few dates with younger guys (not that young though). I find it difficult to be with someone at a different stage of life (still consumed by work, teenage kids, etc.). I see the appeal of their energy but I have found that I really prefer someone like me who has older kids and is retired.

more than about 10 years either way and you're almost in a different generation - and certainly in a different place in life. DH is 9/10 years younger than me (depending on the time of year) - and although it's much easier than it was when we were 24 and 34, there are still some "weirdnesses" that pop up occasionally. I can't even imagine a 25-year difference, like with Macron and his wife.
Morning! Will this week ever end? Why is it so looooong? I ended up deciding to take the 22nd and 23rd off so I can finish my wrapping and baking. I'm hoping by then I can stand/sit in such a way to accommodate those things easier than I can now. I'm so much more frustrated with the slow process of joint healing. I'm ready to be done! Can I be done now?
QOTD: I'm normally a scrooge over Christmas before Thanksgiving. When you ask my kids when you can start celebrating Christmas they will say "When the turkey has his due!" But, this year I said screw it and we put up the tree early. I also hate snow. When I left NY people told me I'd be hating the heat down here and missing the snow. I do not at all. In the two winters we have been through already we've had one snow event each winter. Instead of getting up and driving to work we sat and watched it fall and it was like a holiday. Then it was gone in a matter of days. People will ask me if I miss the snow and every time I explain to them what a day looked like - cleaning 3" of snow off the car before work, paying super close attention driving to work on bad roads, having soggy feet or having to wear boots and carry extra shoes, all the mess in the house/wet carpets, having to clean my car off again after work, driving home in bad weather again. The fact that that happens at least every other day in the months of January and February. NOPE. BYE!
My Food:
- Coffee w/ Cream x3
- Eggs, Sweet Potato, Bacon, Sour Cream
- left over chili
Jon made cold smoked salmon yesterday. OMG, it's so good. So I will have it as a snack at some point.
