Hiya kids! We are getting walloped with as much as 18" of snow today! It's still dark so I can't tell for sure, but I think we already have 6" or so? The wind was whipping and the snow was slamming into the windows in the early hours which woke me up at 2am. No rest for the weary though--most of the local schools (including Boston) are still going to teach remotely. I have sooooo much to do in prep for my day of marathon meetings tomorrow, so I pray I don't lose power.

You guys had such good stories yesterday! Damn! I am low key obsessed with good mystery podcasts and I think between us, we had some really good podcast stories in the making.

QOTD: What are you a scrooge about? Is there a tradition that other people love but you hate? For me, it's snow! I don't care how pretty it is--I just hate it. The feeling of a cold, wet sock from a leaking boot is my #1 least favorite feeling in the world, haha. I also hate shoveling (being cold AND sweaty?? No thank you!). Plus: car accidents, parking bans, travel bans, crowded grocery stores, etc, etc, etc. The only thing I used to like about snow was snow days and remote learning has ruined that, so... Bah Humbug.

Accountability yesterday was spot on with good but I barely even stood up all day, let alone exercised. Busy, busy til we hit winter break. I got some of those cauliflower thins (its like a little gluten free cauliflower flatbread) at Trader Joe's last weekend and tonight I am going to make a chicken pizza out of it tonight. I hope it's good!

Good morning everyone! I was up wayyy too late last night chatting with a friend and before I knew it it was after 1am so I am so tired this morning! Looks like it's going to be an extra coffee day. I'm supposed to go to the office at some point today for the Christmas gift distribution drive through. I really don't want to have to change out of my pj's and drive there though. I have gotten so spoiled working remotely that I dislike having to go anywhere now. Lol

Accountability was better yesterday, but still not perfect. Too much snacking going on! Let's see if today I can get it right!

QOTD: hmmm...I'm sure there is something. My brain is still asleep though.

B: coffee w/Splenda & sf creamer x 2+

B2: protein shake

L: oatmeal or another protein shake

D: Tuna, laughing cow cheese wedge & a pickle

S: L&F Greek yogurt & an apple

Good morning everyone!! Yay for Thursday! My 5 am and my 6 am meetings were cancelled and I'm not complaining. I started yesterday at 5:15, meetings straight through until 3ish, took a break for a couple hours and got back on to do my actual work for a few hours after 6. I am ready for the weekend!

QOTD - Christmas itself; not a fan of the pressure it puts on people -- financially and emotionally.

I don't have a good plan for today because I"m tired, which is just an excuse.

Coffee plus half and half

Leftover Italian Beef

probably a skyr

probably some cheese

I switched my pilates class tonight to the last one so I won't get done until close to 9 but it's a nice stretching/relaxing one so that should be wonderful.

Have a good day everyone!! Friday is ALMOST here!

Good morning everyone.

My mom is wanting to go to sams today. Grrr. She is not an online shopper. I would prefer it if she were but she doesn?t want to be. Other than that I?m not sure what else we?ll do. Took the fruit cake I made my uncle to him yesterday. It was a good one but made a lot. Would definitely make it again but he may not like it so who knows. Lol. I?m really hurting this morning.

qotd: gift giving. Once when I was 11 or 12 my grandma was super mad at my brother and me for not getting my mom something for Christmas. My brother couldn?t drive as he was maybe at most 14. No one in the damn family offered to take us to get her something. Online shopping wasn?t really a thing yet and we definitely had no kind of computer. She got me by my collar and chewed me out badly. I was at most 12...12 freaking years old. To say it left a scar on me is an understatement. I spent Christmas Day that year sitting out behind the shed here crying my heart out. It hurt and hurt deeply. So I over spend every year getting presents for people. I love my grandparents but my grandma had a sharp tongue. She also asked me once if I was the way I was due to my dad doing drugs when my mom got pregnant. Yeah. She hurt me a lot. Christmas has never been the same since so I get grumpy and salty.

b: egg beaters, chicken sausage and coffee

l: 2 street taco corn tortillas, taco meat and vegan cheese

d: butternut squash noodles and turkey meatballs.

s: popcorn, strawberries and roasted seaweed

Melody, I'm going to go out on a limb here and probably say something you already know but I think you deserve some validation anyhow. Your grandmother, and what she did had nothing to do with your inability to purchase your mother a gift, and everything to do with her own feelings of inadequacy. That was a mean, rotten, and flat out spiteful thing to do. I hope you know that. You absolutely did not deserve that as a child.

thanks!

it was unfortunately a defining moment. I'm working on moving past it. My grandma hated my father and really held it against me. It was her issue...I know that now. It hurt like hell back then though. I don't understand how people can be so mean to kids. It blows my mind!

I can tell you how.

Hurt people hurt people.

It took me a really long time to learn that. Once I learned that, it really helped me let go of a LOT of things.

That is very true! Most of the time I am ok but when I let it rattle in my brain to long is when it tends to really hurt me more. I really did love my grandma but as they say no one is perfect.

thanks!

QOTD: OK I know I should have an answer yo this but I can't think! I didn't mind being snowed in it was like you said - the ice, the driving, the shoveling. In the gray dark days of Winter I preferred snow on the ground.

Food was respectable yesterday- and BIG deal - I got my kitchen unpacked. Yay! I feel like now I can get back to some normalcy.

Stayed up until 12:30 this morning wrapping gifts so I can FedEx them to Wisconsin today. My grandkids are on their way to US (oh- and the Parental Units too) So excited!! They will quarantine and spend Christmas at my DIL's parents- but we will be on the same continent and I will see them soon!
