I was in DC for a week for work a few years ago, staying right down by the mall, every day I was there, I would pick a different Smithsonian and go in and see one thing. It was awesome.
I went to the Holocaust Museum the year it opened; so heartbreaking...and it was really my first exposure to how serious security was -- at the time, they had more aggressive security protocols than any place I had ever been.

When traveling was permitted, I would pick a week to go visit DD while she was in college. She'd have classes during the day and I would be free to visit whatever museum I wanted to. Then we'd meet up late afternoon and/or for dinner. They were such happy memories for me. I can never be bored in DC.

It's a magical city, isn't it? For my first 4 years in DC, I commuted to an office in VA. Every single evening when I would drive back in over a bridge and see the monuments, I would feel so LUCKY. Then, I switched to a job downtown and it was so awesome to not have a commute. Now I work from home and live outside DC :( I miss it so. I still go downtown often (well, pre and post COVID) and I just love how walkable it is!

Good chilly Tuesday morning everyone. Supposed to get a couple of inches of snow this morning to noon.
I made my uncle a fruit cake yesterday..well a few. The recipe made soooo much! Two loafs(one a lot bigger than the regular one) and a small 6 inch round one my mom kept. She usually hates the stuff but she said this one was really good! Watch him not like it ha ha ha. I'm sure he will. It's one that doesn't call for any booze before cooking or after as they are very VERY anti drinking of any kind. But he loves fruit cake. This one called for the raisins and dried apricots to be cooked forming a syrup. It made A LOT of cake! At least he can freeze them!
qotd: my favorite is the panhandle plains historical museum in Canyon Texas. At least that I've been to. I want to go so badly to the one you mention in Denver! Last time I was there we didn't have time but it's on my want to list. I also want to visit the White House...in a different administration of course. I think it's the best unattainable museum in the country. Really there are so many I'd love to go to!
b: 1 egg and 1 equivalent egg in egg beaters and 2 chicken breakfast sausages...coffee

I love little museums like that -- if you come to Denver, I will meet you at the DMNS and give you a personal tour:-)
