What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
I don't think it's appropriate for me to say you are a big loser(meant in the BEST possible way),,,,, but WOW and well done! You look amazing so I will keep on going. My doctor at the bariatric centre said that I'll lose a good 40 lbs in midsection once I'm able to get in but I am not counting that until it's finished. Slow and steady works for me.
I drink at least 3 litres of water daily ,,,, usually more.
You have done awesome! WOW, 175 lbs down! That's phenomenal. I did find out in the losing phase that working out made me seem more hungry. Your calorie and carb amount seems to be what you should be at. Are you using a digital scale to weigh everything? I know when I "eyeball" portions, they are always bigger. And even just adding olive oil to a pan, a tsp vs. a tbsp is a large calorie amount. So my only advice is to make sure you are weighing ounces or grams on a scale so you know for certain how many calories you are having :)
Quite a few people lose well into year 3, and of course there are some really successful people who lose regain years out. So don't feel hopeless!
Yes I am diligent about making sure weigh my portions and try to prepare my portions ahead for work. Maybe I'll buy a 2nd scale to keep in my desk. One of the staff at the gym suggested maybe I'm not getting enough carbs since I do weight lifting with a trainer 3x a week plus on my own usually 2 more days. I didn't respond and just thought to myself - NO WAY. lol
I am a VSG'r rather than an RNY'r so is it possible I might just have hit my max? I'd like to avoid a 2nd surgery so will keep plugging away.
Thanks for the advice!
I'm with you - carbs love me and hang on for life. I have never found increasing carbs helped my weight loss. But I'm not a NUT so take my advice with a grain of salt.
I find such an array of people. Some people just simply have to eat so much less than what is fair. Like, Julia should not have to be at 800 calories to maintain. It's not fair and it's frustrating but perhaps your body just requires less calories :(

So glad you decided to join us! I've had a little bit of regain, but without the daily support of this group I think it would be a much bigger issue! A 175 pound loss is incredible--you got this! :)
How do you track your calories, carbs, protein & fats? Do you weigh and measure everything? I met with my nutritionist this week and she reminded me that being off just a little on certain foods can add as much as a few hundred calories to your day without you even realizing it (i.e snacking on a few cheese cubes while you are cooking, or not paying attention to the actual serving size on the back of the product). She also reminded me to either be all low carb (under 20g a day, or up the carbs but lower the fat significantly--it's hard to lose weight without doing one or the other.
Hope to keep seeing you here!
Thank you so much. You are a great lead to this board; kudos to you for keeping it lively and interesting everyday!! (I've lurked for quite awhile)
To be honest, I hopped on because I saw that your NUT had suggested you drop below 800 calories and that's the high end of calories for me. MadisonRose and a couple others seem to be in this range also so add this gal to the "trying to lose" crew.
I have a Fitbit and keep tracks of all of my food, sleep and exercise on it. Previously I'd used MFP to log my food and noticed it has a much better library of foods so I may try using both for awhile and compare. It's SO tough to stay below 20 g of carbs because I eat greek yogurt plus some fruits and veggies which contribute to carb numbers. My fat intake is very low though as I stick to chicken, turkey and fish for my proteins most of the time. I'm just trying to find the right balance where the scale starts to move again,,,, lol. Easier said than done I tell ya!

One of the reasons I keep posting on this board is that ( at least in my experience ) the calorie restriction MIGHT NOT have to last forever .
I neither weigh nor count calories nor carbs but I'm 8 plus years post op , was a lightweight and a lifelong athlete to begin with .
That said I effortlessly maintain an eighty or so pound weight loss and am currently in the low one thirties ..at 5'9" .
I really believe that every single minute of muscle building exercise is money in the bank calorie burning wise .
You just build a furnace that will burn a few more calories every single day FOREVER every time you put in a few hours strenuous exercise ( and rest ) .
I also believe regular exercise and wise eating dramatically slows aging.
(((()))) WELCOME !!!
QOTD- I'm not sure I would trust either, I'm a control freak and don't even like to ride with other people. I also can't read in a moving car, and have motion sickness issues.
I'm officially .3lb above my pre-covid weight, so I consider that a win. I've been having a hard time focusing on my work, I have so much to do and I can't seem to get anything done. I'm trying not to doomscroll, all the pandemic news is so depressing and frightening. And I'm still worried that the orange one may succeed in his coup. I try not to focus on things I can't control, and right now it feels like I can't control much of anything.
I need to get some exercise, the gyms are closed, it's dark and rainy today the sunrise is 7:43 and sunset 4:29 not that we will see the sun today. It's supposed to rain for at least the next week.
OK enough of the pity party, I need to get back to work.
Have a great day everyone!

I can totally relate to you on the orange one and the pandemic. Both have kept me really stressed out the last few months. Hopefully we'll have a new president Jan 20th, the GOP (or a lot of them, anyway) will quit this inane war against him and decide to at least accept him (and hopefully cooperate), and this pandemic will be in the rearview mirror this spring or summer. I am so ready for a normal life again...
