Pilates has a course called center and balance that is really good for helping with balance, I'm sure they have some of it on YouTube or online. I also use a balance plate like this for squats and just standing...it helps!

Chrissy, after breaking both ankles, my PT had me work on balance by doing work while doing my normal routine. Like, stand on one leg when brushing my teeth. Or, while watching tv, stand by the couch and see if I could go through commercials on one leg, using the couch for support if needed. It's amazing how many things you can incorporate this into. Waiting on the microwave, up on one foot, etc. It has helped a lot. Now, post surgery, I do all core strengthening things at those times, and that has also helped. Good luck!

OMG - I've been standing on one foot - and then the other - while brushing my teeth - for years! It's a great time to do it -- the two minutes (that you're supposed to brush your teeth for) goes faster that way! I do that with my morning brushing - and then squats with my evening brushing. Or vice versa.

If Zoom came first and then there was this new thing introduced called "meeting other human beings in person", people would drop Zoom in an instant.

A great way to improve your balance is to walk backwards in a pool. You might be able to do it in your hot tub.

I love cheese -- all the cheese! My oldest nephew has started to smoke things and he's sending me applewood smoked cheddar that he's making for me as my Christmas present. I can't wait.

QOTD - it's not as bad here but when I had my tile floor in Arizona, it made me very aware of how much I drop things...mostly coffee mugs and glasses, to be honest.

Today is going to be a busy day, I"m already 2 hours into my conference calls..they go until 245, then I get a bit of a break so I'll run to the library and pick up a book they are holding for me, then come home and have a call with our Asia team at 5 and then I get my hair cut at 630. I'm going to do a serious chop of it; I think we're going back into much more serious lockdown/in door number of people so even if my salon stays open, I think getting in might be harder due to the capacity issues. Honestly, it's just going to be crazy busy until the holiday.

It does look like I'm taking the week between Christmas and New Years off...I'm a bit annoyed about it but also knowing the amount of work I have Jan 4 through end of June to launch my new project....and then the 21 months after that....I need to take all the time I can now....but I am carrying some resentment from not being able to take that week LAST year...when travel was an option. I have started putting together my book and binge list for the 10 days, though.

Menu today

WW 1 pt muffins X 2

Coffee + half and half X 3

Ever roast deli chicken with slice of cheddar and a pickle spear

Pumpkin Noosa yogurt

TBD on dinner

Have a great Monday and start to your week!

G'morning all!

JB - your gb houses look so cute. My attempts at making them have been a failure.

Great weekend here. Most of CA has a shelter in place order, except for my county...no idea why. So we took advantage of it and went out for dinner. Last time I went to dinner was in June, on a patio, and another time in late August, always outside. Yesterday, on the wharf, around 3:00 pm late lunch was freezing. Obviously it was outside but they didn't have those heaters for all the tables. We chose a table as far away as possible form other patrons and by the time we were done I couldn't feel my hands. And we are talking about sunny CA. I guess next time we go out for a meal will be after the vaccine. I'm good with ordering and pick up.

QOTD: Not much of a spiller. But when I work with glitter it gets all over the place no matter how careful I am.

My meals yesterday:

  • B: coffee + scrambled eggs
  • L: grilled salmon + spinach
  • S: jelly beans + Dots
  • D: skipped due to late lunch
  • E: rest day

Have a great start of the week!

I have noticed that some of our places with big patios have added vinyl walls and windows on all sides...essentially turning them into "indoor" spaces. We do have a few places that had fire pits/heaters that have just cranked those up but left the walls down which seems better to me.

Here too, they use those vinyl walls but we tried to be more cautious and chose an open air table which didn't help with the wind from the ocean. =)
