What's on your Sunday menu?

good morning all! I hope everyone is doing ok.

I'm really sore and just feeling rough. Had a lot of anxiety last night that carried over throughout the night. Hoping today will be mostly a day of rest.

qotd: kind of piggybacking off of yesterday's question...who is your favorite person to buy presents for?

my mom is mine. She has done so much for me in life that I like to be able to spoil her a bit when I can. I love finding little things that make her smile!

b: eggs and coffee...maybe a chicken sausage

l: not sure...might make some beans in the pressure cooker

d: beans if I make em or maybe a protein shake

s: popcorn and ???

I hope you can get a day of rest. Everyone needs that sometimes.

I enjoy buying gifts for my young children or my older ones if I can find something that is very meaningful to them. It will be a small holiday this year but I am trying to be as thoughtful as I can and they understand that this year is different and the reasons why.

I have had my coffee with cream and now just to get motivated to get my walk on the treadmill...more for mobility than fitness. I haven't been as consistent this week due to female issues and just feeling really weak and unsteady overall but I have some things that really have to get done today around the house so I need to just get it done so I can check it off the list.

I might make some "sides" (I didn't cook a holiday meal but I have been making a couple of sides at a time with a protein that will stretch out and the kids have enjoyed that). I will need to poll them and see what the tribe decides. I will probably try to have a small protein centered plate of whatever we decide on for dinner. It will probably include deviled eggs or cottage cheese and maybe a few bites of turkey if there is any left. I might have a few bites of sweet potato pie too. I don't know. I really want to make some sugar free cranberry sauce but I am not sure if anyone but me will even eat it.

My little one who wanders at night ended up tripping and creating quite the blood trail, (they are fine but it is a much bigger mess than I realized now that day is here); They are a hard one to bathe due to sensory issues but it will have to get done today again on top of everything else. Blood. Everywhere.

mornin' All!

today is DH's b-day and he wants take-out pizza and cake for dinner. And I was up to my "oh crap" weight level this morning. Crap. I'm not sure if this is the sodium issue or if my weight is starting to inch up again. I've been eating 100-200 more calories than usual on too many days lately - and I'm not exercising quite as much since bike-riding season is pretty much over. I do exercise almost every day, but I used to ride my bike 1-2 hours a day 5+ days a week, and I'm not getting that much exercise most days anymore - it's usually 45-60 minutes these days. Anyway, it may be a combo of both. I DO have control over how many calories I'm eating and how much I'm exercising, so I'll work at it from that end. I do NOT want to gain any more weight!!

not much on the agenda today other than try again to fix some annoying "issues" on one of my organization's Web sites, and doing the b-day thing with DH. We'll get a cake this morning. MIL will be coming over for dinner to celebrate. I invited my mother as well since I'm sure she's "safe" (she lives in an independent living apt, and they are super locked down) - but I'm not sure if she'll come or not.

QOTD: I find buying presents for pretty much anyone stressful. I guess it's easiest to buy for my niece since she's 23 years old and still needs certain things. It's so hard to think of things to buy for the rest of 'em since we're all over 50 and want to get RID of things, not accumulate even more! I'm glad we won't be doing a gift exchange this year...between the political situation and COVID, I don't need any more stress in my life.

TSS: 5y6m

B: Greek yogurt with strawberry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: Fit Frappe

L: I was planning on a salad with diced turkey and light dressing, but I may have one of those Jimmy Dean D-Lights breakfast sandwiches instead, because calorie-wise they're not much more, and they fill me up for HOURS

AS: hopefully nothing as I have to prep myself for pizza and cake - but I do have grapes and sugar free Jello (and popsicles), so maybe those if I'm hungry. Or something low calorie that's full of fat or fiber (to fill me up...)

D: one piece of pizza, small piece of cake

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all. Not much planned for today. Had a great time meeting my brother for brunch and coffee yesterday. I didn't eat much yesterday, but what I did eat was so bad for me. I ended up having one of those Cinnabon rolls I had no business eating! I felt fine right after, but an hour or two later oh boy! I was on my way driving to my parents house and my heart was racing, I got super faint and light headed and started sweating profusely. I thought I was going to have to pull over. By the time I got to my parents house my shirt was drenched...and it was cold outside. I can only assume that this is what they call dumping? I have never experienced anything quite like this before and I hope I don't ever again. No more sweets for me!

QOTD: I love buying gifts for my parents. Can't really choose one over the other as I enjoy buying for both!

B: coffee w/Splenda & SF creamer x 2

B2: protein shake

L: maybe some oatmeal or roast beef and a laughing cow cheese wedge

D: leftover salmon and broccoli

S: L&F Greek yogurt & an apple

if it was an hour or more later, it was most likely reactive hypoglycemia (RH), although some people call that "late dumping". You get it when you eat a lot of sugar (or a lot for YOU, anyway...), so your blood sugar shoots up and then crashes an hour or two later. It usually doesn't show up until you're a year or more out from surgery. I have that - and so do a few others on here. It's not that uncommon in RNY patients. You can control it by eating something every 3-4 hours - and/or limiting or avoiding sugar.

Good morning! That dog is so me, even though it's a boredom thing for me. WFH really drove that point home. I was looking for snacks (that I did not eat) more then working on quotes I think! Also, side note, I had a big boy named Kramer that looks just like the meme. He was a great dog.

We really enjoyed our anniversary yesterday and there was a margarita for lunch with a taco! Delish. I did not get on the bike yesterday. Boo. But I did complete all the shopping I need except food for the balance of the year. Which is good. My Covid test came back negative last night, and except for work, I'll be staying out of public places for the next three weeks to prepare for my dad's arrival from Arizona. We want to be a safe as we can for him. We've decided just my husband will grocery shop to limit exposure and our office is moving back to mandatory mask wearing if you leave your desk as our area goes into hyper lockdown today due to ICU capacities. Today we will take that bike ride, and maybe even two. It right now it needs to warm up first. It's a balmy 39 outside in the sunshine and that's freaking really cold for my San Diego blood.

QOTD. As far as Christmas, our two granddaughters. I try to consider their personalities and likes and dislikes. The oldest one is, not picky, but very stubborn about what she will wear. I like to try to get her outfits, but I always have the gift receipts ready to give to my daughter and I've learned not to let it hurt my feelings. It's not about me. We also got them each 5 books, one toy, one crafting project and one "just about them" item. Wall hanging of Tatooine, anyone? Thank goodness for Amazon and inexpensive options.

Menu, I think.

B hb egg and cottage cheese

l: innards of a turkey sandwich

d: cheeseburger with caramelized onions, hold the bun. Veggie nest and a couple of chicharones.

sticking to water and tea today.
Peace Everyone!

Today I woke up and decided I wanted to wear more then leggings (the ONLY thing I've been wearing other then scrub pants..) but low and behold none of them fit (too big - yay!) so I adventured out to find a new pair. This was by far the most successful Jean shopping experience in my life. I limited myself to a pair of jeans and a fuzzy teddy sweater. Whoop whoop! NSV on the size - I had a smile ear to ear under my mask in the change room.

Otherwise today we are slowly unpacking our stuff.. not in a rush by any means haha!

QOTD: I hate gift shopping. I struggle to by gifts that are just for fun or toys - I like to buy functional items. Working on this!

B: 1/2 English muffin, 1 slice light Swiss cheese, 1 slice turkey bacon

S: 1c decaf coffee, 1c fairlife milk, sf mocha syrup.

L: 2 slices deli Turkey, slice of light Swiss cheese

S: hard boiled egg

D: 1/2 small tortilla, 15g light cheddar .7oz shredded chicken

S: ???

The whole clothes thing makes me happy and sad. Before surgery I had a pair of pants that were too small for me and I could not wait to be able to fit into them! Well I had forgotten about them for awhile and when I found them again recently while cleaning out my closet I got sooo happy and thought surely they will fit me now!!! Well now they are wayyy too big so I still can't wear those dang pants! Sigh....guess it's just not meant to be. However, out of all the problems in life, I'll take my clothes being too big any day!
