What's your Monday Menu?
Mornin' All!
as some of you may have read, Janet's in the hospital. She has a gastric fistula that will need to be repaired that's been causing a lot of G/I issues. She's also had some psychological and physical reactions to the med they had her on for the neck/head pain. She texted this morning and said she had a PTSD break overnight. Hopefully she'll start to improve - what an awful year she's had!
I really need to take the bull by the horns with this weight. I'm up 3.5 lbs from my norm (although it was 4.5 lbs on Friday, so it's come down a little), so like you, JB, I need to deal with this while it's still manageable. I'm sure it's partially due to the estrogen I'm on (water retention), but still, I need to keep this under control before it gets OUT of control. So I'll really be focusing on staying on the lower end of my calorie range today - and exercising.
I have a hair appt tomorrow. I'm concerned about it and talked to my hairdresser because I was considering canceling it. The virus is out of control in our state. She has her own studio - a single-chair one - and she always wears a mask and she always disinfects between customers - as all the studios in her building are required to do - but there ARE other studios in the building, and God knows what the ventilation system is like. I wanted to change my appt to a Sunday since most of the other studios are closed then, but she said more of them are open on Sundays now (I guess to make up for lost income), and it's actually less busy during the week during business hours (when people are working) than it is on weekends these days. So I ended up not canceling it, but I'm freaking out about it again. I do have a KN95 mask that I haven't worn yet - if I go, I'll wear that one since they're supposedly the safest ones that are publicly available (N95's are safer, but they're only available to health care workers). Ugh. I hate this. I just want this damn thing to be over!!!
QOTD: I'm a terrible dancer, but I do a lot of singing when I'm alone!
TSS: 5y5m
B: piece of cheeesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: pumpkin Fit Frappe
L: the last chicken sausage plus a small sweet potato
AS: protein pumpkin muffin - and maybe a L&F yogurt
D: chicken curry dish (1/2 C) over 1/2 C couscous
ex: cardio strength Zoom class this morning (45 minutes). I also want to ride my bike this afternoon if the weather cooperates. If not, maybe a Zumba video this afternoon or this evening...
have a great day, everyone!

If I was that anxious, I would cancel the hair appt. So much of these things are out of our control right now, I'm definitely trying to focus on controlling the few things I can that are causing stress. Mine Has been going back an forth on whether I was going to go to bookclub on Wednesday. I've decided the stress the decision was causing me isn't worth it.

I am going for an iron infusion this afternoon. I won't be surprised if they cancel it due to COVID. They have closed the hospitals to visitors and being very careful if you have to go there. You call from your car and they call when they are ready for you. They check your temperature at the door and someone is waiting to take you to a patient room. The waiting areas are all closed.
I have an appointment to have my eyebrows microbladed next Monday. They might close the salons down by then. Our governor said last Thursday that he was going to give it another week. They are being much stricter with the mask wearing. If a store is reported to be letting people in without masks, the state is closing them down for 24 hours.
l could not decide about the microblading and then Jen showed me a picture of hers and told me that it is not painful and heals quickly, So I took the first appointment available and that is next Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed that it happens. Trish, I would keep that hair appointment. If you have not used the N95 mask, try it at home first. I find it a lot harder to breathe when I wear one of them instead of the cloth mask.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Please tell Janet we are thinking of her.

I went back and forth with myself on whether to book a hair appointment for like 6 hours this week and I ultimately decided not to go. It is a tough decision because it could be months before it is an option to go again if things shut down again... but I ultimately decided I couldn't take the risk on behalf of my family.
Good morning everybody!
its finally stopped raining here. I came down last Saturday and it rained until Thursday. Wednesday I had to drive 7 hours in Tropical Storm ETA to pick Marilyn up because Sarasota and Tampa flights were canceled.
But then, beach Friday and fishing Saturday.
Today I have gym, work, etc.
QOTD: not always but occasionally
Breakfast - protein bar
lunch egg sandwich
dinner - hamburger
have a great day all!

I tried to self-fix my 'puter Friday which resulted in a black screen for three days . Luckily the 'puter's smarter than me so she came back to life after three full days of endless spinning.
Food wasn't bad .. a few homemade low-fat low sugar Kodiak flour chocolate chip cookies and a few squares of chocolate happened .. no big deal.
Finally started swimming again when the pool reopened so swam Fri and Sun.
Need to be better with the morning skate or walk- unfortunately I seem to have lost my regular walking companion who has developed a new passion for every other day golfing. So it goes ... but I find its a lot more fun and a lot easier to have an amiable companion to amble with.
B- Chai tea Latte SF FF
L- Fresh cucumber salad , jambalaya rice w low-fat chicken anduille sausage ( Whole Foods)
D- homemade coleslaw , perhaps homemade oven -braised corned beef brisket slices w ff Thousand Island dressing , 1/2 sour sauerkraut and 75% cheddar cheese melted on toast ( homemade Reuben)
S- Ice milk Yassos bars , perhaps popcorn.
Managed to find some unique South American heirloom corns, blue and yellow to try popping.
I find the blue popping corn I used up North ( I think from Whole Foods ) had such a nutty, delicious taste ... and popped up quite fluffy.
I also tried toasting frozen "big corn" kernels in my automated kettle popcorn maker ... this made a crunchy low-fat treat like the kernels you can buy commercially minus the oil and salt . I spiced them with a little " Slap ya Mama" bayou seasoning ( garlic salt and red and black pepper) ... yum !
As you can imagine I love to sing and dance ... I usually scare the locals by singing along to my headphones while skating first thing in the morning often at the top of my lungs .
It actually helps me develop the lung power necessary to belt it out so I really don't care if they think I'm NUTZ but I'm SURE they judge lol. WHO CARES . I'm WAY cooler than they R !
Dance -wise I'd love to take some barre and yoga classes and work on my posture. Though its WAY better than it used to be before swimming - I FEEL like I'm stick-straight and then see an unposed picture where I look hunched over . GRRRRR
Theres a great REASON most little Grrlz are encouraged to take ballet lessons ( of course I didn't ) ... learning how to drop your shoulders and extend your neck helps with so many things ( looks AND breathing and the perception that you're from a higher social class ) ALL a woman's life ...
Good morning! The weather here is nothing short of glorious and I wish I had another weekend day to be out in it. I have a very productive weekend and was able to get in 8 miles on my bike at the bay yesterday. I also talked to my boss for hours yesterday, (she's a really dear friend at this point) and it seems I have preliminary approval to start transitioning towards retirement next year. So I think I'll be doing 4 days a week starting in January. Beyond excited about that! We need to finalize some details, but it's looking good. Today I have a doctor's appointment to get a hormone implant, and my hairdresser is coming to our house tonight for a cut and color. This day should fly right by.
QOTD: Almost constantly. I wake to a song in my head, and get the radio going during my morning routine, and then sing randomly throughout the day. And I'll throw in a little dance move when the urge overtakes me. Occasionally that will happen in public. Awkard.
Menu:
B: 2 oz chicken, 1/4 C cottage cheese
L: turkey chili and I've got a little fresh roasted corn to add some crunch to it
D: Italian themed stuffed bell pepper, 1/2 serving.
Peace Everyone!
