Maybe because I went from an 8 to the 12, my cable would not plug into the 12. The cord they sent with the 12 did not have a USB end. The C has a smaller opening that fits the cord that came with the phone.

I also went from an iPhone 8 to a 12. The new cable has a different end that plugs into the wall/brick, but the end that plugs into the phone is the same and you can use all your normal lightening cables from your 8 to charge it. It's the only option that's been in my house and my phone is charging great!

Thanks Erin,

I had put the old chargers in my Goodwill box, but will take them back out. I have worked IT since the 1980's and cannot believe how frustrating this cable was to me. I am calmed down now and see that it does fit. I was trying to plug the new cable into the old power block.

Those cables aren't cheap so I'm glad you got it working!

I have been in IT since the start of my career and somehow I still assumed incorrectly with that cable. I don't hate their reasoning for not including a brick - they claim it's to reduce the need for mining of materials needed to create them. As part of my geography class I've read a lot this semester about the political upheaval in parts of Africa related to mining of precious metals. But, maybe for the first iteration of doing that they should have just left it USB-A to stop all the confusion.

That makes me feel a lot better about the whole mess. I always believed the main reason we send spacecraft to other planets is the hope of finding sources of precious metals. I think there should be some type of warning when you order the iPhone 12 about the USB-C. If I had known, I would have ordered it that day and saved a lot of frustration.

When iPhones were very new, I was at Ocean City, MD and my iPhone stopped working. I asked my brother-in-law to drive to Washington, DC the next day so I could go to an Apple store. He told me that I was nuts. This was vacation. He said to put the phone away and go enjoy the beach.

Fortunately Apple did understand and shipped a replacement to my hotel room the next morning. Back then people thought I was insanely obsessed with having a cellphone at all times. Now the rest of the world understands.

Hi JB. I did some Youtube videos today and feel a lot more confident with the Apple Watch. It even takes a ECG and checks my oxygen. I have the emergency contacts set up now and it was really easy, once I saw what to push.

Before today, I did not even know that it syncs to the Health app and was looking for my info on the Watch app. So that made a big difference. I can see now why people end up loving this watch and wish I had bought one years ago.

The only thing I don't have yet is an iPad, so that will probably be my next toy. I went with Kindle Fire when they started in 2011 and still love it. But there are a lot of times I would rather have an iPad. I have had almost every model of iPhone since they came out and worked as an iPhone technician for a few years.

I have also considered buying a MAC but stop when I see the price they want for them.

hi all today is vaca day- we are leaving after work! they do require masks the entire time on the plane and airport so that should work fine. can't wait. scale took another drop also so 4.6 pounds down in total. so glad! I think 1200-1300 plus exercise is the sweet spot for me... I'm planning on eating most of my food for the day before we leave. one layover in Houston for 1.5 hours and not arriving in CA till 9:30 PM local time will pretty much wipe out all the ability to eat healthier foods during that time. plus I need to eat the rest of the food in fridge. I'm bringing some protein bars for snacks and should be able to find some meat in the airport. I also have some jerky...

QOTD: I did but then it died now I have all these bands - I actually wore mine on my shoe for a long time because it was more accurate.

I have found Houston to be one of the worst airports for healthy snack finding. Lots of options for yummy crap, lol
