What's on your Wednesday Menu?

Thanks! I looked for something unique to represent snow or snowfall. I wanted either Italian or Latin. Italian was way better! Also had to be somewhat easy so people could find it on Etsy!

G'morning everybody!
Insomnia is a PIA! Do you wake up with a thought or worry or just naturally wake up? The fridge looks so good. I see you get the same cold coffee I buy. Love it!
Had an ear doctor appt yesterday. Turns out I'm losing the ability to hear high frequency sounds. The dr was really surprised and asked me if I had worked in a lab or in a factory where there were a lot of noise. The only thing I could think of was the dance clubs I used to go to (late teens - early 20s) on the weekends. The music was pretty loud, and sometimes I would go back home with my ears ringing. He was kinda doubtful but said it could be. He said I'm not at the level of hearing aid but to keep up with my yearly appts with him so that he could recommend it when I need it. I felt so old coming out of his office. The only person I knew with hearing aid was my grandpa towards the end of his life!
QOTD: personal chef because I hate cooking. I have enough motivation to workout, but there are days that I say F it, and eat whatever is in the pantry.
My meals yesterday:
- B: Protein coffee
- L: scrambled eggs with grated unexpected cheddar (I have become obsessed with this cheese- I would eat the whole block if I wasn't worried about being plugged up)
- S: L+F pumpkin pie yogurt
- D: taco innings in jicama wraps
- E: 4 miles jog
Happy hump day!

Too many concerts and my Walkman on 10 back in the day will be my reason for hearing loss but man it was fun.

When I was 19, I suddenly had hearing loss in my right ear. After three or four different doctors, one of them told me that it was caused by a virus. I did not need a hearing aid, but used my left ear for phone calls.
I remember asking the doctor what would happen if the virus came back and hit the other ear. He said my chances of that happening were almost zero. I adjusted well to it and the hearing in the left ear was perfect.
Then when I was 64, I woke up one morning with no hearing in my left ear. I managed to make a call to the same ear doctor by putting a headset on my cell phone and then was able to hear enough to make the call. They determined that it was the same type of virus and I now have permanent loss in both ears.
I have learned to adjust to two hearing aids. I recently was tested and have 96% of normal hearing with the hearing aids in. That is far better than most people my age of 72. Many people have no idea that I wear hearing aids. They are tiny and fit completely inside the ears.
The technology today is wonderful. I can set the hearing aids to use like airbuds to listen to music or podcasts on my iPhone. I can adjust them so that the television sound streams directly to my hearing aids.
But I was fine with one good ear for 45 years.
So don't worry too much about it. I bet you will never even get to the point of needing a hearing aid.

Mornin' All!
not much on the agenda today other than the usual senior cardio/strength Zoom class at 9:00 and then online Mah Jongg from 10:00-noon. I'm a little behind on watching lectures for one of my classes, though, so I'll try to get caught up this afternoon. I'll also make an Aldi's run. I've been eating more than usual lately, so I need to find (or make) some fun but filling items that don't have many calories.
I'm up 3.5 lbs since last week (I record on Wednesdays), but if that was true weight, that would mean over 12,000 extra calories so...no. It's all/mostly water. I'll be really glad when I can get off this %#%*$ med. My PCP said 1-2 months - I'll push her for stopping after one month. In addition to the water retention, I think it's increased my appetite a bit, too. Crap.
QOTD: given the choice, I'd take the fitness trainer since I like cooking and have time to do it since I'm retired. Plus I think having someone around cracking the whip would be good - esp in the colder months since doing exercise videos or Zoom in my basement is not nearly as fun as getting outside to bike or walk (or kayak). But what I'd like even more is an activity director to keep me busy with things I enjoy so I'd quit thinking about food. It's so much easier when it's warm out since I can just get out of the house for a few hours when I can't keep my mind off food!
TSS: 5y5m
B: cottage cheese with blueberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: pumpkin Fit Frappe (with 1/4 C pumpkin - and some pumpkin spice - in it)
L: salad with 3 oz chicken strips and light dressing
AS: yogurt or protein pudding with raspberries
D: we're having pizza tonight (MIL is coming over), so 1-2 pieces of that
have a great day, everyone!!
Good morning everybody!
Today is my fifth straight day of rain in Florida. Supposedly it's going to clear up Friday.
I had an odd experience at the airport Saturday. First, I was selected for random screening at the TSA gate, thus eliminating all benefits of TSA.
Of course I lit up the other screener (the one where you stand up with your hands up) like a Christmas tree and qualified for the dreaded "male assist"
Pretty standard up until now, but the screener kept poking at my thigh and asking "what is this?"
I'm like "dude it's my leg". And he would ask why it was so hard and whether I was wearing any sort of metal brace on it. I Was getting real close to just dropping my pants so that he could see for himself. Finally, he called over his supervisor, who poked my thigh a couple of times and let me go.
QOTD: definitely chef. Second would be a nun to slap my knuckles with a ruler every time I reached for a snack I didn't need.
Meals are kind of up in the air because I have to pick up Marilyn and DS from the airport.
breakfast: egg sandwich
snack: protein bar
Have a great day all!

I thought that airport thing would end after I had plastic surgery (oddly, the hanging skin sets off those newer, more sensitive x-ray machines), but no. I have some surgical clips or staples in my abdomen, and they set it off. My thighs do sometimes, too - which I could never understand. I didn't have PS there, and I always carried my weight high (I was apple-shaped so never had super heavy hips or thighs), so I don't have a ton of hanging skin there now, so...????
Yes- it's only the stand still kind. The walk through one is fine.

I was in Texas once and bought a corset from a lady who imported them from Columbia. I wore it home because I did not want to take the room in my luggage to pack it. While I was in line for security, she called me and said, make sure you don't wear that corset to the airport because it is full of metal. But it was too late.
So it set off the detectors. I explained to what I was wearing and the TSA lady, who was very plump had a good laugh over it. At the time, I was about 120 and she thought it was funny that I was so tiny and wearing a corset.

When I flew a couple months ago, the secondary inspection lady told me my pelvic bones set it off and I was "sooooo lucky to be born so petite". My husband and I just cracked up. Then she suggested wearing leggings while flying and now I do, and it has helped.
