OMG I thought I surely was the ONLY gullible person who bought into that one !!!!!
I won't even put SELF TANNING lotion on lol ... ( which really helps correct the visuals and seeming tightening on the areas the sun doesn't tan... inner thighs, tummy under breasts and muffin top... the underside upper arms and double *****
Heh heh heh .. at least I can laugh at myself !
( and its REALLY not fattening ? R U SURE ? )
My favorite classes in school ( other than skipping school pretty much every other day, letting myself into the house and reading and eating all day, which amazingly I got away with most likely cuz my teachers felt sorry for me and I aced my tests anyway ) ... were hands down art and competitive sports after school where I got to beat up unfortunately mostly innocent little boys .
I was a VERY frustrated angry kid ... it didn't help that my parents sent me to school in hand me down clown clothes and a homemade haircut so I was regarded as semi-slow.... or that I was literally the BIGGEST and TALLEST kid in EVERY class through the eighth grade . But I still got the presidential physical fitness award and won all the sprints .. though I heard the football coach marveling .. how does something that Big go that Fast ... grrrr .... .. remember that TO THIS DAY... it HURT !!!
Shoot he should have known better - a LOT of football players look fat and are incredibly quick and explosive.
I got picked first to play every ( mens ) sport lol... football, rugby, lacrosse, center in mens basketball.... in a way it saved me socially as did drama ( and wanting to attend Practice made me finally attend School lol!)
I really liked too that my coaches fought for me to be able to start in inter-school league games as a grrrl.
Believe it or not almost always the opposite sides coach would try to disqualify me from games on gender grounds ( yes I am OLD lol !)
Having parents that NEVER stood up for me ( or spent a penny on me or Ever came to a game or play I was in) it felt great to be appreciated and valued . I also loved being an essential part of a winning team.

I had never heard that about the lotion. I remember the fat free everything and the mindset that snackwells were healthy because they were fat free!

Oh god yes--the whole fat free movement sucked my mom in hard and I grew up with every low fat treat that existed, which were all sugar and carbs...especially when you eat the whole package!

Fat free is such a funny subject especially for the generation who grew up on that way of eating and was still overweight .
The question we can't answer is how overweight would we have been not restricting high fat foods ?
The overeating kidz I knew and binged with grew up significantly heavier and even more so if they had access to fast food.
I looked and functioned relatively normally until my WLS though I always FELT like a monster and desired so much to be graceful and sylphlike lol :)
I like cooking and baking fat free or very low-fat because I find I can eat as much as I want and I always had issues with portion control and grazing.
Fat free doesn't make me lose weight- but I don't gain significantly either even in food season like now - Thanksgiving through Valentines day... and I can make pretty much everything taste the " right" way without fat .
I think those companies who made snack wells were being a little unethical with their recipes - just trying to make them taste good as opposed to tasting good and being healthy.
A lot of the second category remains on grocery shelves from that time ( so obviously people ask for and buy them ) - fat free fig newtons for instance, fat free ice milk ( halo top) and great fat free ingredients like ff ricotta, cream cheese , whipped cream, hard cheeses and freeze dried butter solids.
I really miss Fat Free Tortilla Chips though, fat free Pringles, and 99% fat free Chef Boyardee ravioli cans !

Fast food vs snackwells is not the right comparison to make. No one who is "pro-fat" is claiming fast food is healthy!
A better comparison example is whole milk vs skim milk. Whole milk has natural fats, while skim milk (in order to taste good enough to replace the fats) is filled with sugar which turns to carbs. Plus natural fats keep you fuller longer. So you give up fat on the front end, but make it up in spades on the back end with all of the added sugar.
Good morning all! This whole week has been crazy busy at work. I'm so ready for the weekend. Accountability was pretty good yesterday despite the SF candy I got into. At least I won't get into it today because there is none left! 3 more pounds of regain left to lose!
QOTD: Spelling was probably my favorite! I loved it and was always very good at it, but now I suck at it! It's like the simplest of words I have to stop and think.....how do I spell that? Lol
B: coffee w/Splenda & sf creamer x 2
B2: protein shake
L: 2 oz chicken breast & a laughing cow cheese wedge
D: 4 oz baked salmon & broccoli
S: L&F Greek yogurt & an apple
Surgery: RNY on 1/23/19
Funny story about spelling bees. In Italy we don't have spelling bees because the way you pronounce a word you spell it the same way. It was so frustrating to learn English and realize the pronounced words doesn't match the written one. Hence the need for a spelling bee contest.
One of the reasons I never learned French was all the extra vowels and silence letters they had in their words apparently for no reason at all.

Ok what I am about to tell you should come with a **nerd alert** haha. But I got really into a podcast called the History of English, which takes you back to the Indo European beginnings and takes about 50 hour long episodes just to get to the Normandy invasion! It gave me the greatest appreciation for the weirdness of the language and I am no longer annoyed when I see kids make new words like 'bae'... it's never been a static language and it is cool to see it still evolve. Anyway, I tried to get other friends to listen and they all thought it was boring AF, but I loved every second of all 142 episodes!
