Morning again folks, just a quick update on my appointment with the neurologist. Basically all the things he's tried hoping that, a non-invasive treatment would fix things,. but they're all a no-go. It looks like the pain doc will do a 4th cycle of injections in the occipital nerve branches (C1-2), which usually takes about 8 weeks to get through...Merry F'n Christmas!!

Once that's done, he will send me to a different neurosurgeon. The problem is that the surgeon I saw in January & March claimed that surgery would not solve the problems. My neuro said that that surgeon doesn't like to do "messy" cases and mine is really bad. There's another local surgeon who apparently has done much more severe cases with good success. He works at a hospital that I don't like, but insurance will probably only pay for a few days inpatient, so it's make the best of it.

I also asked him why I'm so terribly tired and weak all the time, and he basically said that the pain and my body's attempt to deal with everything is just draining my strength. Makes me REALLY angry but I'm just going to do what I can and find help with the rest since DW isn't able to help and she needs help herself.

More tomorrow good friends.

Janet

I live close to the Cleveland Clinic. When you go there, they assign a team of specialists and find the one most skilled in taking care of your issue. I have a friend who was going to have surgery for lower back. When he was able to talk with the skilled surgeons, they found that he had a disease of the upper spine that was going to have him paralyzed if not treated.

It is referred to as the Japanese Disease and the bones in the spine turn to stone. He was one of the very rare non-Japanese men to have this condition. By identifying this, he had a surgery to remove the calcified bones in his spine and avoided a wheelchair.

I hope you seek out more than one opinion on your condition. I would suggest you contact a major organization like Cleveland Clinic or a university hospital. You want the most qualified person to diagnose you and to suggest the best treatment.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard and horrible time.

the last time I saw my neurosurgeon he said there was nothing he was willing to do at this time. I say that because I know It's so frustrating to hear that things can't be fixed the way we want it to. All my issues are in my lumbar and sacral areas I simply can't imagine how hard the cervical region would be. Sending you gentle hugs and lots of positive energy. Lots of love too.

Mel
