...ahhh are you kidding me? OH ate my post! Gah. Let's try this again...

Morning everyone! Yesterday was wild! My team was in a meeting on zoom together at 10am when we all got news alerts on our phones to tell us that Boston Schools are finally going all remote. It is more than a little nuts that out department was not told and we found out from the local news, right? Anyway, this will have a big impact on my work so I don't know what the next few days will look like. I am mentally preparing myself for complete unpredictability.

I am taking a long lunch today to bring my kitties to the vet for a checkup. One of them has stated urinating outside of the litter box and I need to make sure they are not suffering from a physical problem. I suspect it my skittish one who is just a nervous little guy who doesn't know how to express himself, but it seems prudent to make sure there isn't something more serious. They haaaate the car though and cry the whole time. Luckily it's close. Poor babies.

In other news, I saw this hilarious letter that a kid wrote to our Governor about Halloween. I'd vote for this kid for President. It's more of a plan for controlling COVID than Trump has put out, lol.

QOTD: What is your favorite small business (not a chain)? I grew up near an apple orchard that expanded to have a really nice store attached. They have apples (of course) and other fresh fruits & veggies, but they also make their own jams, jellies, fudge, soups, cider, donuts, etc. And have added a fresh deli, a selection of gourmet cheeses, and a big selection of gourmet breads and pastries from other local bakeries. I love it there. Everything is so perfect. I've been looking for an equivalent around where I live now and nothing has come close. It's over an hour away but I might just head over after work today!

Good morning JB....I am shaking my head at your team finding out from the news alert. It makes me feel a bit better when we find out about corp changes in the same email as our colleagues....at least it's not from the news, lol. My old company used to release all internal comms to the leadership team 24 hours before sending to the rest of the company so we could have read them and be ready to answer questions. Not so much these days.

QOTD - there's a place call Queen Creek Olive Mill in Arizona that sounds a lot like your apple orchard (except for olives). I do miss that and I still get my olive oil from there via the internet. Locally now, I would say the Tattered Cover Bookstore.

I have meetings starting today at 5 am going to 5 pm, I think there are a couple half hour breaks though -- looking forward to the end of this week! I went into the office yesterday, this is our first week of "optional" return.....I don't think I'll go bac****il next year or when we can do F2F meetings, whenever that is, it was half an hour each way to sit in my office on conference calls. Silliness. I did start listening to Canary on the drive home.

I am doubtful I can make my FIT class tonight because my last call gets over at 5 and the class starts at 515. I could do it if I wasn't presenting on zoom but just calling in but that's not the case so....we'll see.

Menu today is

Coffee X 3 with half and half

Ever Roast Deli Chicken and slice cheddar

Wallaby yogurt

Jalapeno and cheddar RGF bites

Have everyone has a great jr Friday!

I wanted to check in and see how close the fires are to you. It sounds like it's growing.

Thanks for checking Janet! I'm far enough that there's no danger at all, just ash and air quality issues. I have quite a few friends up in the Loveland/Fort Collins area where the biggest one is and even more around Boulder. A few have been in voluntary evac zones but none in mandatory, and no damages or injuries. They just evacuated one of our small mountain towns completely (grand lake) which is just shocking. We do have a couple of days of snow in the forecast starting Sunday so I wouldn't be mad if it comes early and stays longer, as long as it helps knock down the fires!

I have a good friend that lives in Boulder. These fires are terrifying. We haven't had measurable moisture in well over a month or two here but we don't have the trees the mountains do. Makes me so sad...I love Colorado so much.

It's very scary, they just started evacuating the west side of Estes Park and the video from the entrance to RMNP is like something out of a horror movie.

Morning! I'm procrastinating going and getting on the bike because my glutes are still sore from trigger point therapy on Tuesday! I have an appointment this afternoon via telehealth to talk to my surgeon about my latest MRI for my 2nd hip surgery. Cross your fingers he finds something to justify doing the surgery on 12/1! We know it needs it,Q but of course this is the United States and insurance rules supreme. But, if I can have it done in December it will be free.

QOTD: I have a favorite coffee shop that I love. They have the best lattes and before COVID it was a short walk from my office. I was going 3-4 times per week to work there in the afternoons. I just recently started driving there from home (it's about 15 minutes). It's sad to see the way they have to operate - no inside seating, one person in the building at a time through the front door and exit through the back. But, they pay their workers a living wage and I want them to be successful - so I'm back to an occasional latte.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x3
  • Turkey & Cheese Roll ups and either cucumber or cauliflower
  • Broccoli Cheddar Soup

It's remarkable to me how so many of the coffeeshops (local and national chains) are at the forefront of some these employee forward models, like actually paying a living wage.

G'morning everybody!

Well, I'm up at an ungodly hour (for me) because DH can't use his cpap machine due to him having the cold, and his snoring is out of this world. Even the dog left the room when I came out. We are still in limbo and haven't received his COVID results.

JB, your city news was on CNN a lot yesterday and I thought of you!

QOTD: a lot of mom and pop restaurants here are really good. There's one called Charlie Hong Kong about 20 minutes away. We begged the owner to open one in our little town but he said he is good with just one shop. There is always a line outside his shack. Another store that I donate a lot to is called Caroline's and is a shi-****hrift store. They help the women's shelter.

Accountability: pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds happened!

My meals yesterday:

  • B: scrambled eggs and coffee
  • L: hb eggs + tuna
  • S: pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds
  • D:meatloaf
  • E: 30 minutes cardio + 50 minutes weight training

Happy jr Fri-yay, everybody.
