I LOVE the nuts n bolts !

What IS " Steampunk?" makes me think of that old Broadway song ... Steam Heat...combined with pink n green Mohawks and lots of plaid and ripped stockings

I MISS the drrty old eighties nineties St. Marks Place !! ( and nasty Times Square too ... )

I have a strong feeling Manhattan will only come alive in the movies from now on... until it gets "revitalized" ten or more years from now.

I never Imagined I could Possibly ever see Manhattan as a ghost town.. but all it took was Covid and the release and placement in city-funded lodging in formerly ritzy tourist hotels of thousands of Rikers Island prisoners to Totally destroy New York, the Capital of the World's thriving and year -round lucrative tourism industry.

No-one dares go out after dark anymore.

Most brownstones and stores are also boarded up- including the Presidents residence, Trump Tower which when I saw it a few weeks ago was boarded up to the second floor!

Again, no meal plan, but another day in paradise! We are at the end of Myrtle Beach so the beach is lined by houses mostly not hotels and is really pretty. We did drive down the "strip" last night to go to dinner and OMG I would hate it here in non-Covid times. But like most places, it is spookily quiet. We leave in about 90 minutes for Charleston, a 2 hour drive. It will be very different there.

QOTD: I either like just fresh basil OR peppers and onions.

View from hotel and looking out at the pier from the beach:

Driving down the strip can take 90 minutes in July and non-COVID bumper to bumper traffic. My sister has a restaurant in Wilmington, NC and it can be quicker to drive to her place for dinner than fighting the traffic and crowds in Myrtle Beach.

we used to rent cottages in North Myrtle Beach/Cherry Grove a lot (when we lived in NC). It was quieter than the main strip (mostly houses and cottages, as you said). I have no idea what it's like now, though, as that was probably 40 years ago...the craziness may have moved north by now. But yes - the Myrtle Beach strip has always been nuts!!!
