What's on your Wednesday Menu?

Thanks for all the good healing thoughts yesterday. I managed to make it through the work day. It's not really too hard right now--things have really quieted now to almost a standstill at work, and of course I am still working from home, so I just traded my sick couch for my office couch, lol. I had a few meetings but other than that, nothing too taxing. Today should be the same, except I have been up since 1am, so I might be a little more tired today. Still battling a low grade fever, but otherwise I'm feeling much better!
I have an idea for Photo Friday! Has anyone seen the viral hashtag for "how it started/how it's going"? Pick any point in your life as a starting point and then do a side by side to now. I've seen some really inspiring posts, so pick any starting point in your life (how it started) and then show us your now (how it's going). Can be WLS related or not. Cant't wait to see yours!
QOTD: What are your go-to herbs and spices? I cook a lot with Basil and Thyme and always add Umami to my breakfast eggs!
I stuck to my half-assed plan for food yesterday except that Grim brought home some Halloween Candy! I had 3 snack sized Kit-Kats, which I am calling "medicine" ;)

This is one of my favorite laugh out loud realistic memes every time I see it. I am glad that you managed to get through your workday.
I think garlic and either onions or shallots are my go-to everything...I am not sure if that counts though.
I need to knock it off with the holiday candy and get back to my routine of walking. I had to order a new treadmill after moving as mine was busted beyond repair through the moving process. I can't wait to get the home in order but until then I can try to get my body and mind back on track just a bit.
Missing all of your wonderful posts and snippets of sharing life here on Obesity Help...
Morning all,
Today is my first day back at work after my last cervical spine procedure. I'm so fortunate that I can telework (and we have since the first week of March!! 7 months, 1 week now!!). I wouldn't have been able to work much at all the last year if that weren't possible. I slept in until 5:30 and I'm not sure how many hours I'll last today. I've had severe head and neck pain for more than 36 hours now that hasn't really backed off, also meaning very little good sleep. This isn't unusual for me, but still very frustrating.
I am happy to say that I did get out and go for 3 short walks yesterday, not very fast or very long, but it felt SOOO nice to be in the sunshine and fresh air. Hoping to do the same today.
In other sad-happy news, a few weeks ago I had my blood levels done again after at least a year (naughty, naughty!). My blood glucose was above normal again and so was my A1C, although not horrible. My doc put me back on some low dose Metformin again after being off since soon after my RNY. Disappointing, but with little activity, lots of stress and weight gain, makes sense. I've been monitoring twice a day again and my fasting BS's are already going down. Yippee! Also most of my other numbers (including my iron, ferritin, mag, etc.) were within a good range.
JBQOTD: I always add minced garlic to everything, also a bit of oregano, basil & red pepper, lots of cumin, cardamom, citrus zest, Spanish paprika, & minced fresh, ground or candied ginger. But I have 2 shelves of Penzey's spices in my kitchen for a little of everything.
JB, sorry to add my own QOTD's but I do have a few questions for the group:
- I know that a bunch of you make Chaffles. Do you ever make them with egg whites since that's what I keep in the fridge?
- For those of you who do yoga, pilates or other stretching-balance work, do you have a video, including YouTube, subscription, DVD, Prime, that you follow? I got a couple of very gentle yoga DVD's but I need something very modified right now. I can't put any stress on my neck without triggering pain. I'd love suggestions.
- Ooops, I had 3 questions, but #3 ran away . Maybe later.

1.) Yep, you can make them with Egg Whites-- I didn't find any significant difference at all.
2.) I signed up for a few different subscription to ROKU Channels for Yoga & Pilates and they had varieties of strength levels and most were easily adaptable. Ultimately, I decided I just don't like stretching workouts for myself and would prefer an endurance run over it any day of the week, so I quit my subscriptions. But if you have a ROKU, there are quite a few options there.
I agree with you. I'd much rather do a hard run and lift heavy, even swim laps for an hour, but my cervical vertebrae are deteriorating and just won't take the impact any more. ?

So glad your back and sorry about you A1C Levels. We know one of the main reasons many have the surgery is to control diabetes and you've done so well I feel bad this has happened to you. That SUCKS. But hopefully there is a way to get it back under control. I can only answer your question number 1 since I do not do yoga at this time but yes you can use egg whites in your chaffle. I have actually made chicken ones the other day just stuck the cheese right on the waffle maker threw on some shredded chicken and then more cheese and closed it. It was a quick way to reheat the chicken and it was yummy. I will be keeping you in my Prayers. Take care.

Fortunately it was only a bit over "normal" and with a small dose of Metformin my morning blood sugars are already headed down. I'm not happy about it but better health continues to be the goal.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with so much pain! I am dealing with lumbar issues but yours sounds so much worse and I am so sorry for that. I love that you keep going. It inspires me!
I suggest YouTube to try out things. I haven't been able to do anything in a while but I used it often.
