My cousins in Oz said that flu season was definitely lighter this winter for them. Hoping for the same here but I also got my flu shot, taking no chances!

I've heard that as well. I'm wondering if the masking and social distancing that people are doing due to COVID may have been a big factor in a lighter-than-normal flu season, too?

According to an article I read (in I think, yesterday's NY Times), apparently the yearly flu in this country is "seeded" by travelers returning from or coming in from the Southern Hemisphere, where seasons are opposite ours. I had never thought about that connection before, and found it interesting. Travel has been wildly reduced worldwide due to Covid, therefore we have had fewer Flu "seeds".

I can't decide if I want this to be "normal germs" or just get COVID over with since it's not so bad. No results yet.

I am glad to hear this is turning around and definitely think you should take a sick day. I really think you should take the rest of the week and just recover. Life and work have a way of going on without you there and you become an even better employee when you return strong and healthy.

I almost never watch live TV. It is HBO-NOW, Netflix, Amazon, or Disney. I never watch commercials.

If I do turn on a live TV program, I will normally hit the mute button at the first blast of a commercial and walk away or get on my computer or phone. Basically every commercial out there annoys me now. When I watch national news, I watch it on PBS most of the time.

I do notice that men don't hit the mute button. They take the opportunity to channel surf. Channel surfing, when I am watching a show or movie that I am really interested in, is the biggest annoyance to me. Especially when they settle on a different show and I miss the one I was interested in. My husband used to do it, and now my boyfriend does the same thing.

I never complained to anyone about it, but have never had it happen when I was watching TV with other women.

I worked but it was an easy peasy day, so it didn't feel worth it to take a sick day since I was probably going to have to answer emails anyway. But I logged off at 3...when I am supposed to but never do! :)

I would have preferred to hear that you spent the day on the couch, wrapped in a comfy robe, covered in blankets with daytime TV and some hot tea with honey.

hi all

JB- I vote for sleeping, always...

QOTD: We have youtubetv so I would say the 'commercial' that comes on when there isn't a paid commercial which is really just this annoying music.

got a flu shot after work yesterday and my right arm is sore right now. hopefully I don't get too ill with it.

food plan today:

b: iced coffee with premier in it

1/4 cup oats/sf pudding/egg whites/yogurt- sounds gross but I like it

b2: shake or eggs/35 cal bread slice

l: chicken veggies maybe tofu ( it got the kind that's too soft so I'm actually going to put into the dehydrater option on air fryer and 'see what happens' I live on the edge folks

d: not sure yet I do have sliced chicken strips and chicken in freezer here

s: probably something involving plain greek fat free yogurt doctored up

I was stupid and got my flu shot and my shingles shot on the same day, of course different arms, but OOOOOUUUUCCCHHH.

I've found over the years that taking a Tylenol about an hour before those shots can reduce any problems, OTHER than a sore arm!

I didn't react well to shingles vaccine #1. My arm swelled up and was sore for several days. Luckily, I didn't have any issues with shingles vaccine #2!
