Hi Everyone! Oh man, today is going to be a long day... First of all, I was awake alllllll night :( And today at work is going to be insane. The signed agreement between the school superintendent and teachers union about COVID Protocols said we would shut down and go remote if the city-wide rate went above 4.0. Well it did yesterday, so the union told teachers to stay home tomorrow, but the Superintendent didn't close in-person learning for 1300 high needs students. So we have students coming but no teachers. What? I literally have no idea what is going to happen.

Yesterday was a complete food disaster for me. I have no idea why but there were not enough carbs on earth to satisfy me. I really overdid it. Today will be better.

QOTD: Who was your favorite teacher of all time? I really didn't have any amazing teachers. It's one of the reasons why I am in education--I knew it could be better! But I did have one really good HS English Teacher. She was really creative and engaging and it surprises me me how often I think of things I learned in her classes, 25 years ago.

:) Brings me back 2 the days I ALWAYS had food in my hand ... gosh, half my life.

Now I just have it in my purse or car..." just in case" .

Haven't experienced a moment of starvation EVER mind you... and real hunger only maybe a handful of times since my surgery when I couldn't get to a snack - riding on the back of some idiot's bike for hours for example ...

I'm up early too trying to work... I have a very pressing and VERY important deadline that I seem to be able to do nothing but RUN and HIDE from... GRRR.

Can't sleep- cause I'm WORRIED- Can't work... cuz I'm TIRED

B- Chai tea latte

L- Salad w Fat free dressing n fat free feta cheese

D- Popcorn , hot mulled cider

S- some kind of lean protein

I too, never want to see a carb again lol... way too much snacking on cereal, bread, fruit pastries lately. That feeling will last an hour or two...

I had an amazing principal in Middle School who made sure I got into a great boarding high school and away from the Gulag that was my home.

I was blessed to learn from a series of very passionate and accomplished professors and even high school teachers who were stars in their chosen fields- and been lucky and I suppose personable enough to meet and be chosen to learn from really cool people Outside of school too.

A caring teacher really CAN change a life - I know my trajectory was profoundly altered by Mrs. Jablonski and I will forever remember her and feel grateful to her .

Good morning JB! I hope your day goes as well as it can, that sounds like an utter disaster. I feel bad for the teachers and the kids...and you for having to deal with it all!

QOTD - I had a number of very good teachers but probably my 6th grade teacher, Mr. Childs, and my jr high and high school English teach, Mr. Shea were the most impactful. Mr. Shea was the one that let us spend two full class days talking about "Fatal Vision" after it aired, launching my true crime obsession, lol.

I'm sitting here this morning, on my second cup of coffee, and realized I don't even have the semblance of a food plan; I usually have at least some outline so that's a bit odd. I have an early HIIT Pilates class so maybe I'll run by the store after.

Coffee plus half and half X3

last of the left over chicken breasts

Barebells bar

TBD

Have a great jr. Friday everyone, we're almost to the end of the week!

'Utter disaster' does not begin to describe it! But I like the creativity in the sick notes... "I am physically sickened by the lack of care shown by this district, therefore I will take a sick day.". Haha, not how that works, friends.

Good morning all! Went to bed earlier last night and had all kinds of strange dreams. Why is it that I can never remember my dreams? I just know that they were strange and out there! Lol. Accountability was pretty good yesterday. Wasn?t the best, but an improvement from the other day.

QOTD: it?s tough for me to pick just one favorite teacher because I had so many who were impactful in their own way. Several of my high school teachers come to mind and I had the pleasure of having some multiple times throughout high school as they taught different classes. Of course there was one teacher I did not care for who scared the living daylights out of me! She was my middle school keyboarding/typing teacher. She was this strict older lady with a thick irish accent. She walked around with a ruler in her hand and would slap you on your hands with it if she saw you typing incorrectly or not typing fast enough. I can still hear here saying ?don?t peck the keys like a chicken! Use all your fingers!? Lol

B: coffee w/Splenda & sf creamer x 2

B2: protein shake (premier shake mixed w/a frozen banana)

L: 2 oz low sodium turkey breast and a hard boiled egg

D: 4 oz baked salmon and broccoli

S: L&F Greek yogurt and fruit

Ugh I had way too many teachers who sound like your typing teacher. No one was allowed to smack us, thankfully, but they would have if it was allowed!

I remember in elementary school, the principal had a wooden paddle on his desk. Kids were sent to the principal's office for poor behavior. I always felt bad. They would come back to class and you could tell they had been crying. Could you imagine it being allowed to whack a kid with a wooden paddle?

I had nuns.

Paddles for really bad behavior like joke switching from one line to the other in the hallway; ruler slaps for less bad behavior like using your left hand to write or coming to the classroom with pants on under your uniform skirt in the winter (has to take them off before going into the classroom)

no - I can NEVER imagine that happening now and it still floors me that it was done when I was a kid (not to me, though! I was a good kid!). The whole idea of corporal punishment seems bizarre to me now, even though it was a pretty standard punishment when I was growing up.
