EXACTLY!
Our daughter talks to us so we know what's going on in her life. Our son's answer to all questions is "same old same old" or "don't know"! It drives me bananas. I tell him the same thing, stay safe, although he is in college and maybe not in peril as much as your son being stationed. But I guess we are all the same and those stinkers wanna just get on with their lives without us hovering.

It is HARD with sons. Mine is on the other side of the world... I call him the 'peanut gallery in India' ... judging what I do from afar. I get texts. Talk to my DIL and grandkids but sometimes have not talked to him for months at a time. He seems to have turned over a new leaf in the midst of my selling my home and this transition. We had 2 really long talks and I woke up one morning to an apology text from him for not listening to me.

This is such a tough time for them to be starting college. Having the social isolation on top of everything else that a first year college student faces is just so hard.

That's what I am worried about. Cooped up in his room all day long looking at a monitor. He has made few friends, but I'm worried most of his time he is alone. I know all the kids are going through this and my son is not more special than others, but during the last two years he was home he developed this habit of shutting us out and staying in his room - borderline depression? I was hoping with college he would just hang out with kids his age but now I keep worrying about him being all alone.
Argh! Sorry everybody, for dumping this here.

You must be still feeling the effects from the smoke? Did you check your Oxygen level? I would be concerned that you may have Carbon Monoxide poisoning if you still feel crappy. Please take care of yourself.
