What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
on 9/25/20 3:05 am
Good morning, my friends! We did it! We made it to Friday! I have a nice quiet day ahead today but then all hell is expected to break loose on Monday when in-person learning starts in Boston. I canceled all of my meetings and I am bracing myself for the chaos of teachers and other staff being AWOL. Can't wait. Ugh. October used to be our ONE quiet month...
But before the madness, I am looking forward to a nice weekend. Tomorrow morning at 8am I am going to be the first one at my hairdresser and I am going to let him do whatever he wants to me, haha. My hair is a giant mess. Obviously the Keratin has washed out, and the color has grown out, but I am not going to deal with any of that--just a good haircut! I joked yesterday about it weighing 20lbs, but it feels like its close!
Here is my last entry into zoo lights pics. I seriously have 1000 more I could have chosen, and 500 of them were probably of the octopuses. They changed colors every few seconds and I couldn't take my eyes off of them.
Here is the giant shark made of Christmas lights that was actually a tunnel to walk through. It was beautiful!
And last, me with my twin--the Hungry Hungry Hippo!
QOTD: Do you like Black Licorice? There was a news article in The Boston Globe about a local man who DIED after eating large quantities. Yuck. I never liked the anise taste, personally. I can think of a million other foods I would rather die from eating.
Yesterday I didn't stick to my menu very well. No terrible choices, exactly but I was too tired to anything except for grab and go, and of course there was the wine and cheese... I'll try to stay reigned in today and all weekend!

I hope your weekend is great and Monday doesn't look over it too much! Smart of you to cancel the meetings so you have availability. Have fun at the hairdresser! i have loved all your zoo lights pictures - that dragon is amazing!
I have back to back video conferences from 6 until 2. I cannot wait for 2:01. i have to do a grocery shop, I have a virtual play tonight and looking forward to that. Tomorrow and Sunday I'm doing my first rounds of text banking to get out the vote and I also need to plant a whole bunch of bulbs that arrived earlier this week, plus watch the first episode of the new GBBO on Netflix!

Thanks for reminding me about the baking show. I am so excited to see that again. After JB mentioned Home Edit, I started watching that and love it. My next binge watch is going to be The Keepers. It is about a teacher at a Catholic school who was murdered by in the 1980's. My friends who went to Catholic school with me are telling me that I have to watch it.
That is a really unusual sunset picture. Traveling again is something we will really appreciate. I never imagined I would be in a situation where I have plenty of time and could go anywhere, but not able to get on a plane and do it.

The Keepers was excellent, but a rough emotional watch...

Good morning all and happy Friday! Love all the beautiful pictures JB! Well I didn?t make it to pick out my mew glasses after my eye doctor appointment yesterday, but I got my new prescription. He also gave me a script for some generic eye drops which is a whole heck of a lot cheaper!
Accountability was pretty good again yesterday. Hoping this trend will last through the weekend. No plans this weekend. I do need to get my butt to the salon at some point as my hair has gotten so long and full of split ends. Just not sure what I want to do. If I want to just do a simple trim or go with highlights again.....either way it will have to wait until next weekend once I get paid again. I do miss wearing my hair down though. It just looks so straggly now that I pretty much keep it up 24/7.
QOTD: nope never been a fan and never will be. It?s just so nasty to me. Like why would people eat that? lol
B: coffee w/Splenda & sf creamer x 2
B2: protein shake (premier shake mixed with a frozen banana)
L: 2 oz low sodium turkey breast and a hard boiled egg
D: TBD
S: L&F Greek yogurt and fruit
Surgery: RNY on 1/23/19
hi all I'm ok today but still tired and hoping to see a negative test result today, nothin yet so I will just keep my butt here in the house till I know. this has thrown off my eating and workouts. yesterday I had 3 shakes, some carrots, zucchini, and yogurt/cottage cheese. just wasn't feeling like having anything else. at least I got my protein and water in.
I might end up doing the same today just because - blerg
IF I get a negative today I will do some things this weekend- otherwise I will be here.... I really need to straighten some things here with my online store plus I decided last minute to recertify for my project management which means I have about 9000 hours of webinars to attend in the next 15 days. I decided this exam was pretty hard to just walk away and not renew it.
Food:
probably 3 shakes, yogurt and maybe some oats?
Hope your test is negative. After I retired, I let all my certifications expire. I never intended to work again, but now I realize that was not a good decision. You never know when you might want to do something different and having an active certification gives you choices.
I had a lot of project management courses in college, but never sat for the certification. I did certify for CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional. That exam involved a lot of studying and included things like encryption algorithms, network security, software development security, and risk management. I still hear from recruiters who are looking for someone with those skills.
I picked income tax when I did decide to work part time. That was also not an easy certification, but I passed the Enrolled Agent exams and stay up-to-date on my required credit hours so I don't face a 9000 hours in two weeks deadline. When you get into that situation you just have to dedicate most of your life to getting them done.
You will get it done. Feel better.

oh, I forgot the QOTD - I love anything anise; I ever put anise extract in my coffee sometimes; black licorice, ouzo, anise cookies, anisette, yum. When I was in Iceland, they had a black licorice skyr....for years, I kept asking them to sell that in the US but apparently it wouldn't be a big seller, lol.

Fascinating how people's tastes can be so different!

Mornin'!
Feeling 100% back to normal today - so it was just the "Reclast flu", thankfully! I'm meeting a friend at 9:00 for a bike ride, then meeting another friend at noon for lunch. Not sure what else is up today, although at some point I should probably go to the gym and do upper body weights.
DH's home office chair is finally here! We went over to a FedEx station last night to pick it up. It looks great! Here's a picture of it (from the internet). It comes in a dozen colors, but we got this green. It actually looks a bit more lime-y green than it does in this picture.
accountability was better yesterday; weight was way down this morning. I hope this is a trend...
QOTD: I don't hate it, but on the other hand, I don't pursue it. I'll sometimes eat it if it's around. A piece or two, anyway.
I have no idea what's for lunch today. My friend is Japanese, so it'll definitely be something Japanese. I just hope it's not anything fried (she made a ton of fried stuff once and I ended up in the bathroom barfing it up. She doesn't know about my surgery - but I'm guessing she'll remember fried isn't my "thing". Maybe she'll make sushi. She made that last time I was there, and I went wild over it...)
TSS: 5y3m
B: piece of yogurt pie, coffee with half & half
MS: the bike-riding friend prefers latte destinations, so probably a latte. With 2% milk and SF syrup.
L: don't know
AS: L&F yogurt and a skinny bagel with light cream cheese
D: probably chicken skewers or a couple of slices of turkey breast (again!) and vegetables
someone posted this photo on Facebook the other day. It's a picture of downtown Madison (where I live). It's hard to believe it's a photo - looks more like a lithograph. But it's an actual photo!
