It is cold and windy here! I have NO IDEA what I am doing today. Mike is laying low with a shoulder issue so I am on my own. I probably should do some stuff around the house, take Justice for a long walk,...

QOTD: What wastes the most time in your day to day life? It has to be sleeping! I need a solid 8 hours, so 1/3 of my day.

Accountability: None - I ate like I could eat anything I wanted yesterday.

TSS: 4 years, 6 months

B: Coffee!!! WW banana and egg pancake

L: deli chicken and laughing cow cheese

D: light crab cake and veggies

S: WW one point muffin

good morning everyone, thanks for getting us started today Liz.

We have an insurance adjuster coming at 8...on a Sunday...to look at our roof. I smell trouble brewing. We need a new roof according to two different roofing companies. I'm just hoping Allstate comes through unlike last year when they allotted a whole 10 shingles to fix what the roofer said should've been the whole west side of the roof.

I also woke up to a sore throat. I think it's the smoke in the air. It was so heavy that it blotted out the sun almost an hour before sunset...and no actual clouds in the sky. I can't imagine what it's like even closer to these fires.

QOTD: sleep and my iPad...

b: pumpkin bread and coffee...maybe a banana

l: cooked cabbage with GF chicken nuggets

d: not sure yet....

s: popcorn, kiwis and ???

I know what you mean Melody. We have so much smoke here but it's nothing like they have on the west coast. That must be unbearable. Good luck with the insurance company!

I needed a new roof a few years ago. The representative from the roofing company was at my house when the insurance adjuster arrived. He went up on the roof with the adjuster and pointed out all of the weather damage. The insurance company paid. I do not believe they would have paid had I tried to explain it on my own. It does depend on the insurance adjuster.

If you get turned down, don't give up. Talk with a roofing company and see what their success record is with getting the insurance company to pay for a roof. I found out that some companies know how to do that and others don't have a clue or don't want to be involved.

Qotd - I'm going to go with work. I could get so much reading done if I didn't have 10-14 hour work days, lol!

I am going to make those WW muffins and some protein steel cut oatmeal today. Wish me luck! I've made the oatmeal in the instant pot but never added protein powder.

I want to try oatmeal too. I know Karen eats it every day and does great with maintaining her weight.

fiber is helpful in keeping you satisfied for sure! So are healthy fats. I often have one or the other when I'm having a hard time controlling my eating. Although lately I've been trying to eat more fiber in general. It does keep you satisfied longer (well, dense protein is good for that, too...)

Karen has inspired me and I bought a box of oatmeal yesterday. I had always considered it to be too high in carbs for a RNY person, but Karen changed my mind about that.

Mornin'!

I made sugar free crystallized ginger last night since I've been eating the store-bought crystallized stuff lately - the latter has sugar and WAY too many calories, so I figured I'd try making it with monkfruit (or any other sugar substitute). It worked but boy - is this homemade version strong! I poured the water that I boiled the ginger in at first (to soften it up - before I put in the monkfruit) into a pitcher of Crystal Light lemonade. It was probably a pint or less of ginger water in a two-quart pitcher of lemonade, but the ginger taste in that was super strong, too! (although I like it - DH was not impressed, though...). Anyway, so I now have "safe" crystallized ginger. Easy to make. It was probably just as expensive as the store bought version, though - although if I'd have used sugar rather than monkfruit, it would have been cheaper than store bought for sure. But artificial sweeteners aren't cheap. But at least I have sugar free ginger now! (and I bet SF versions of the store bought variety, if available, are pricier than the standard kind!)

we're meeting the moms for coffee at 10:30 - our usual Sunday schtick. DH wants to clean out the fridge tonight. It desperately needs it and it's trash day tomorrow, so tonight it is. Not sure what's up for this afternoon yet. I'll probably go on a long bike ride at some point, though.

accountability sucked most days my brother was here (too much eating out), but my weight was only up 1/2 lb this morning, so I call that a win (of course, 1/2 lb could be normal water fluctuation, too - but even if a true gain, not much harm was done!). Back at it today!

QOTD: internet for sure. I feel guilty about how much I'm online just killing time. It's really disgusting. And yes - I've always thought sleeping was a huge time waster, too....

TSS: 5y3m

B: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: I think just an AmyLu chicken sausage

AS: probably a L&F yogurt and a light English muffin with light cream cheese

D: I'm making another dish from my new IP cookbook. It sounds like some Indian-inspired di**** has chicken thighs and spices and some coconut milk in it - and vegetables, I think (I have a sleeping cat on my lap - otherwise I'd go and check)

you guys - I just thought of something - maybe whoever's interested could do a Zoom meet-up sometime??? That would be fun!!

have a great day, everyone!!
