Trish, hope you can take a break from all the politics and pandemic stuff; it's so wearing and it's getting to people in so many different ways. Ever since I saw something about "doom scrolling" through Twitter....and realized that's what I was doing every morning I'm trying to enforce more breaks for myself. Good luck finding an approach that works for you and helps with the stress!

That's funny--I had looked up the Milk St cookbook the first time you mentioned it, but when I noticed a lot of the reviews focused on how long and complicated the recipes were to prep, I decided against it. But I would love to find something that shakes it up a little and inspires me to cook again. I have been so lazy and I am in such a terrible rut!
were you looking up the Instant Pot one? (I can't speak to his other ones since I've never seen them - but a friend I was with yesterday (the one *****commended the IP one to me) said that in some of his earlier books, he focused more on French-style cooking, so those recipes are fussier - plus she (the friend) prefers his newer, more Asian-focused cooking). Anyway, as far as the IP one goes, I didn't find them complicated at all. But I guess it would depend on how comfortable you are with cooking. I was surprised to hear this because I have a few cookbooks that feature much more complicated recipes. These are kind of medium-level, I would say.
some of the people reviewing said they couldn't find some of the ingredients, but they must live in really small towns. We have a gazillion ethnic grocery stores around here, but of the recipes I've made so far, I've been able to find everything in regular grocery stores. I'm sure it's the same in the Boston area since you'd have even more resources than we do...
