G'morning everybody!

I'd like to use the collective wisdom, if I may. I have noticed in the last 2-3 months I behave like a model bariatric patient during the week, but come Friday afternoon/evening all bets are off. It's like bariatric patient, who? I can eat anything I want! I don't do it with pre planning, and by Sun afternoon I beat myself up and come Mon morning I'm back at being model bariatric patient. This makes me bounce between 143-147/148 every week. By Fri I'm around 143-144 but Mon morning I'm back to 147-148. I know the numbers and calorie counts, but WTH am I doing this? I am worried that slowly it will slide into higher ranges. I don't mind the fluctuation as long as it's 140-145, that's why I aimed for 140 to have that cushion below my goal. I haven't seen below 143 in AGES! What say you oh wise ones? I know it's more psychological than anything else, but I need a kick in the rear end or an aha moment, provided by those of you who have had that aha moment, in order to stick to my plan during the weekends. TIA!

QOTD: Well, we just finished paying for one kid in college so that she wouldn't have any student loans. And now another kid in college, although in state so less expensive. This year I would like for us to redo the drive way and the path to the front door, plus a new front door. So that's where the money goes.

My meals yesterday:

  • B: coffee + scrambled eggs
  • L: hb eggs + tuna
  • S: not planned PB pretzels :(
  • D: Taco Tue (no shells)
  • E: 4.5 miles jog

Happy hump day, everybody.

Every year I feel less and less like a bariatric patient and more like I am just a normal person. I rarely get sick from eating the wrong things now and actually could eat the same meals I enjoyed before surgery 14 years ago.

I know that because I can do that does not mean that I should do it. I remind myself that it is very easy to gain back weight and I am not normal. I have to be on a diet for the rest of my life if I do not want to go back to obesity.

I used to belong to Weigh****chers and when I would get to my goal weight, then I would go to the maintenance plan. I always regained on the maintenance plan. I believe that there really is no maintenance. To maintain, I have to be careful and sometimes be a bit hungry,

We had a saying here that hunger is not an emergency. It is ok to feel hunger and do nothing about it. Feeling a bit hungry is something I can be comfortable with. When I crave things, I find an acceptable substitute or just do without them. Cravings are just an emotion and they don't have to be listened to.

Cravings are just an emotion and don't have to be listened to! I need to frame this and put it in my pantry and kitchen. My problem is not so much hunger but cravings, usually for sweet stuff.

Is there a lack on schedule on the weekend? Also, I am not sure if you are like me in the fact that I am an all or nothing gal...meaning if I "go off the rails" I have a tendency to think that I might as well just call the day a loss and throw caution to the wind. I have remind myself that I can change the mindset right then and there.

Yup, that too. I ruined the day anyway so might as well go all the way. But that's the mentality that got me on the operating table to have WLS! Somehow I need to treat the weekend like any other day of the week. We tend to do more outings during the weekend and all my planning goes out the window.
