People always say find an exercise you like and that's important but it's also good to find a time you like -- I much prefer to work out in the morning but the classes that I like the best are all evening classes. I mix it up and will do great for a long time and then I succumb to objects at rest staying at rest, lol. I do try for 3-4 morning work outs and 2-3 Pilates classes in the evenings. Some weeks are better than others!

Hello my RnY friends!
It's been lovely here, sunny and a bit windy, warm in the sun but otherwise the air feels cool. Fall is my favorite season, and though it's yet to officially arrive, I feel it already. There is some haziness from the terrible fires in beautiful, golden California, and from those in Oregon. I hope that all of you in fire areas stay very safe.
I had my annual bloodwork done on Friday, and thought that as long as I was there, I would get a flu shot and the pneumonia vaccine, both of which are recommended for people in my age group in today's pandemic environment. My clinic didn't yet offer this year's flu shots - apparently these are only really effective for 6 months, so the clinic opted to receive them in October. But they were able to give me the pneumonia vaccine. I don't advise this for anyone! It was very painful going in, unusually painful. The nurse said "Sorry! That shouldn't be painful - I must have hit something". Yeah, no kidding! I had several errands to run afterwards, then conked out for an hour or so - blind, noisy Mia, my Siamese, had been exceptionally loud the night before and my sleep hadn't been good. When I awoke, my right arm and shoulder were incredibly painful. The injection site didn't hurt to the touch, not was my arm red or swollen. But deep inside my shoulder and arm the pain level was unreal. I couldn't move my shoulder or my arm at all without terrible pain, and not moving was almost equally painful. It continued to escalate to the point that I was considering going to the emergency room. That level of pain is definitely not normal! Tylenol did very little and what faint relief it gave wore off fast. I dug out the few narcotic pills I had remaining from my operation in June. Knowing it was a holiday weekend and only having 4 pills left, I was afraid the pain wouldn't quit and rationed out just one. I really needed two, but between the oxy and more Tylenol I finally was able to fall asleep by around 4 am. I was still in pain over the weekend though it was not as terrible. In fact my shoulder still hurts. This level of reaction seems to be very unusual - a few per million - and seems to be related to poor placement of the needle, consistent with where I was injected. The scary thing is many people who experience this mishap have their shoulder and arm pain subsequently become a chronic condition. I'm hoping I will be luckier!
I'm going to the east coast for a while to help my friend Peter out. I don't yet know if I'll go in October or November - the latter would be better for me but I might have to go earlier. He lives in Bay Head, NJ, which is a charming and beautiful town, though in a fragile barrier island location. Sailors long ago would carry ritually tied knots of rope with them on their voyages. If their ship was becalmed with no hope of movement, they could untie the knot to unleash the wind and get underway again. I wonder if the opposite could also be done - if a fierce wind could be brought into submission with some concentrated knotting. I'm being fanciful, I know - just thinking about hurricane season on a barrier island!
I'm feeling slinkier these days, which is fun. I 'm down to 130.2, just a tiny bit more to go!
First: coffee, more coffee
B: roast chicken or HB egg & a can of tuna
L: shrimp stir fry
D: more shrimp stir fry
Snack: a little plain nonfat Greek yogurt with either some blueberries or, if I get out to pick them, some late season blackberries.
Wishing you all happiness today - and always!
I hope you continue to feel better. I got the flu pneumonia shots a few weeks ago. I also was very sore on the whole upper side of my body for a few days. My hubby had a bad reaction with soreness and fever for a few days- he was miserable and it started about 3-5 hours after the shot so we knew that was what it was.
Ouch, that sounds painful. Hope it's getting better.
I got the flu shot last week, oops forgot about the pneumonia shot!
