What's on your Tuesday Menu?

Helloooooo! Ah, so my goal for working an 8 hour day was a major flop. Closer to 12 and I felt like I barely made a dent. People are quitting the district at an alarming rate right now. It's insane. I want a vacation! But I am actually taking a 4 day weekend. My BFF's parents (like my second family) are on the Cape this week, and they invited me down for a day on their private beach, and dinner out. It will be nice to see them and lord knows I don't need any excuse to take a day off right now.

Thankfully, I had a small pouch day yesterday, so at least I wasn't an eating machine while I was glued to the computer.

I never had a chance to come on and read yesterday, but I browed your answers to the QOTD this morning and realized I must have no sense of humor at all... I agreed with every single person you said wasn't funny--3 Stooges, Monty Python, Will Farrell... I don't find any of it funny. I basically just like the Golden Girls, haha.

QOTD: If you woke up this morning and your house was completely empty, would you decorate the same way or do something completely different? I like our house and style, generally (especially because most of the furniture was hand built by Grim!), but I do think about clearing out the living room and starting over sometimes. I have been looking at new sofa/chair sets online but I think it will be a long time before I want to go out to a furniture store to try them out, so it will probably be awhile before we actually upgrade. I might start with some new kitchen appliances, instead :)

Good morning JB! Good for you for taking a four day! I am doing the same.

Long day today and a 430 appt for my physical& annual to pick up orders for bloodwork& my 3rd mammogram this year plus getting my tetanus shot and flu shot. Basically, I told them, I'm only coming in once this year give me all the paperwork I need for the rest of the year and do it all! My tetanus was due in January so I'm behind. I am hoping to make the last Pilates class tonight.

QOTD - the only change I would make I'm kind of in the process of. When my mother was going to move in, I was going to have the basement finished and put in another master suite - now that's off the table, I've lost decision making capabilities re: basement but realized last week I need to get some space between work and home so I'm moving my work office downstairs. It's still unfinished but it's a huge, bright open space so it should be fine until I decide what to do. By the end of the long weekend, I expect that to be done.

I did not like my chorizo-enchilada concoction yesterday but it seemed wasteful to throw it out so I froze it in individual portions, maybe it won't be horrible spaced out vs being on my menu all week. That does leave my menu today up in the air a bit.

b - protein waffle with pb

s - L&F greek

l - deli turkey breast

i have set a 30 day exercise challlenge for myself -- I slacked off on the elliptical in August so need to get back on track. I feel better mentally and physically with daily exercise but also, I'm lazy so it's a battle, lol.

I am at the stage that if I do not exercise I feel guilty. I miss the gym so badly but still have fear of going back in there. I wish I could take a day off and relax. But I tend to eat very little if I do not exercise in fear of gaining weight. People who think having this surgery is easy are crazy. I personally find the battle of the bulge harder now because accountability did not play in to my diets pre surgery. Shh don't tell I believed cheat day's were ok. Now that I am in goal range I struggle with micromanaging my exercise and food intake.

Good morning all! I was in bed by 9 last night which never happens. I was just so tired and I felt the munchies coming on so I knew it was time to go to bed or I would have exceeded my calorie limit for sure. My accountability was really good yesterday. No extra snacking. My weight is still like a rollercoaster though. One day it's up and the next it's back down. Well it's getting to be that time of month again so I guess that's to be expected. I tried my first built protein bar yesterday. It was the apple almond crisp flavor. It's funny because I started with the one I figured I'd like least, but I was pleasantly surprised. While I don't think that flavor will be my favorite out of the bunch, I actually liked it. Can't wait to try the other 17 flavors!

QOTD: While I'm content with the way my house is decorated now, if I were to start over I think I'd change things up a bit! I think it would be fun! Although my place is so small there is only so much you can do. I love decorating and when I was in high school I thought I wanted to be an interior decorator. Now was I any good at it? Haha no! That's a whole other story. Just because you like something doesn't necessarily mean you're any good at it. (Learned that the hard way) Kinda like ice skating.....I love it, but I suck at it! lol

I know how those days start out to be 8 hours and end up being 12. I learned that years ago when I started working from home. When I had to get in the car and go back to work, it was not such a temptation to start up again after dinner.

When it became just walking to the next room, it was hard to stay away. It also is because you love what you are doing and are good at it, that you don't stop.

I picked out every single thing in my house and have memories attached. I am at the point where I plan to slowly replace everything in the living room, family room, and master bedroom. But it is hard to get excited again about doing that. When I buy a new piece I shop and browse forever until I find what I feel is just perfect. Then I want to keep it forever.

Good morning,

QOTD - If my house was cleared out, I wouldn't be mad. I have some amazing antiques, however they are large and have been gifted to me from my MIL. So while I love them and they are beautiful, I didn't exactly get to pick them. Each one has an interesting story tho. I would definitely decorate different. I would go for a way more minimal look.

Breakfast - fasting so water, tea, etc.

Lunch - No idea but its probably gonna be soyrizo/kale/polenta today

Snack - fruit smoothie or pb&j

Dinner - up in the air

Have a great day everyone. Happy September.

Christina

Mornin' All!

OK - I need to get back on track here. I've been eating at the high end of my range too often this week, and I've been eating too many salty foods to boot (the "sun-dried tomato turkey breast" and frozen Szechuan stir-fried vegetables I got at Aldi's the other day are major culprits...). Today I WILL stay at the low end of my range and find less-salty things to eat!

Our usual Monday online Mah Jongg game was rescheduled for this morning, so there's that. I also need to get outside sometime today to enjoy the nice weather. Maybe a bike ride this afternoon? I have lots of indoor things I can be working on as well.

a friend was raving about Christopher Kimball's new Instant Pot cookbook ("Fast and Slow"), so I ordered it. It arrived a few days ago, but I finally got around to opening it last night. Oh wow - this thing looks great! Many of the dishes are inspired by various ethnic cuisines, so if you're not into that, you'd be disappointed - but if that's your thing, you'd probably love this thing. I can't wait to try some of these dishes!

QOTD: I honestly think I'd keep everything the way it is. Except maybe my bed frame. It came with the mattress (which is now over 20 years old - I should probably replace it!), and it's not something I would have picked out myself. Any other furniture I wasn't crazy about I've since replaced.

TSS: 5y2m

B: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: Caprese salad, light English muffin with light cream cheesee

AS: L&F yogurt with raspberries

D: tomato sandwich (made with Fit & Active bread), pumpkin yogurt with 2 T light Cool Whip

i have a bunch of grapes and some SF Jello for additional snacks, if needed

have a great day, everyone!!

I have several of the milk street cookbooks and still get their magazine, they are a great read even when I don't make anything from them. Love their whole approach!

Me too!! (re: Milk Street)

I have a gazillion cookbooks and cooking magazines (not just Milk Street - but...tons!). When I was SMO, i used to make things from them all the time. Now I mostly just page through them and glance at the recipes and look at the pictures - and occasionally use them for ideas - but this new one I might actually cook from. It'smy kind of food - and not that tough to make (I rarely make elaborate things anymore like I used to) - and I like being able to use my IP occasionally for something besides yogurt!
