JB, the hair shaft thins out on the end. I used to demonstrate that with a sharpened pencil. Then when you trim it off again, the shaft is like a pencil that has not been sharpened and is flat and straight on the ends. That makes it much stronger and looks much better. Then it starts to get sharp again and finally gets to the point where it splits. A quarter inch makes a big difference.

I was always anxious when I had to do some kind of speech in grade school. Giving a book report or a what I did last summer report. I used to volunteer to go first, figuring most people were too worried about their own presentation to be too critical of mine.

I did the Dale Carnegie course when I was 21 and got a lot of good tips for speaking in public. I remember having to present something at church one day and when I stood up to speak my knees were shaking. The public speaking class in college was probably the most important class as far as actual life.

I was the first person at work to use Powerpoint slides. I had a home computer and was using MS Office before the company started installing it at work. Not sure what it was called then. I belonged to Toastmasters for years and gave a lot of talks and received a lot of critiques. Some people were painfully critical, but I learned.

Good morning everyone.

I feel like **** this morning. Not sure why.

no plans that I know of. School starts next Tuesday and we are honestly terrified. Whatever will be will be I guess...........

I've been eating to much. My weight is showing it. It isn't necessarily "bad" things but still...you can have to much of a good thing.

qotd: uh...big no from me. Heck no...lol. I freeze up and just...it's not pretty.

b:toast, egg and coffee. Maybe a small banana

l:chicken & apple sausage and quest chips

d:Turkey chili and Melba toast

s:WW bar, pear and popcorn

my pics are old but popped up on my memories on FB so I thought I'd share. The only new one is the pink chainmaille ball/dodecahedron I finished yesterday.

Very pretty, as usual.
I was thinking of your kaleidoscope (sorry if they have another name but that's how I call them) all week. Do you sell them? How big are the prints?

Thank you so much! I have sold them in the past to friends. I think they can get printed fairly large. It's been so long since I've ordered prints I've completely forgotten. I know it can go to at least 30x20. I haven't been on my pc in a long while(I should probably update it soon...). The printer I like best in somewhere in California. I can have them ship the print directly to the buyer!

thanks again :)

Happy Fri-Yay all!

This felt like a long week. I think because of the heat wave that we are having. But it's finally the weekend.

OK, I went to McDonalds last week. Me and my son had a late afternoon with our fishing trip and he wanted to shower before we went out. The actual hours of restaurants were shorter than the posted hours because of COVID. And I will give my son credit because he went with me to three closed or closing restaurants before he asked if we could go to McDonalds.

There are some foods that I don't eat a lot of that are a revelation. A sort of rememberance of things past for junk food Proustians. Pizza and sushi, I'm looking at you. But not McDonalds.

This crap broke me going in and broke me going out the next day. It tasted gross, felt gross, was gross. Good riddance.

I don't think that we have too much planned for the weekend. We have a team competition at our gym tonight, followed by a wine tasting. I am doing the competition, but will only do the wine tasting if Marilyn is there to drive. But there will be food and I will have that in either case.

Today, I actually need to do some work. As in, not just participate in phone calls and respond to emails, but actually do something proactively. So, I think that I will get started on it right after this post.

QOTD: I speak frequently on incredibly boring topics. You aren't missing anything. I haven't tried the Zoom speaking yet. Also, if truth be told, 90% of the time I just dial into the Zoom calls on my phone.

Pics are the family dropping DS at college and my new gym

Breakfast: protein bar

Lunch: Bratwurst

Snack: nuts

Dinner: Wine and WOD

I only go to McDonald's if we're on the road and there are limited options. I was glad when they started offering Egg McMuffins all day because that's not a bad choice - 300 kcal and a lot of protein. And the Canadian bacon is pretty lean. That's now my standard order if/when I go there - even late in the day.
