17 years post op battling regain
Hi I haven't posted on here since 2016! At that time i was battling 15 pounds bow I'm at 30! I was never able to get the 15 off, I have tried kickboxing, low carb, low fat, currently I've been on WW for the past 5 months and have only lost 1.5 pounds sooooo frustrating, I have been good haven't touched soda or sugar in 17 years! I am now 47. I am starting Contrave to see if that does anything? IDK we shall see I did notice i was thinking about eating ALOT and this is supposed to help with that somehow. Has anyone else tried this and has it helped at all? Please dont tell me to get back to basics and count my protein up my water etc...i have done it all!! lol
*side note I am also going through a divorce so the Contrave may also help me as its an antidepressant also
There's a lot of science behind it. It's really important to remember that there's a lot of healing that goes on in the body that doesn't result in immediate weight loss. Some people actually gain a few lbs while the initial routine is setting in. I've been doing it over a year, clean fasting. I do 18:6, and I've been ridiculously happy with the results. I doubt your body is broken! 3 months is about when you START to see some change in your body.

Let it begin with me.

11 years out for me, and I think I found the same 30! I maintained really well for 7 years but some life crisis events froze some of my good habits in their tracks (exercise for one)....Anyway.
I have rededicated myself to those basics and am down 6 lbs. (oh, I'm 65 years old btw with a slow metabolism). Drink ALL tha****er and less diet pepsi. Eat very high protein, small amounts, and eat every 3 hours. I too find I can eat a lot of food some days, and if I make bad choices I can really take in a lot of calories. I think of this as "eating around" my pouch.
If I am doing the right things - taking all those steps taught to us by a surgeon, whether we WANT that advice or not - my mind gets back into the game regardless of the scale. I feel more in control.
BTW - I tried Atkins again. Keto. "Nothing but shakes." Pouch reset. Then I realized these are all just the same old diet things that failed pre surgery. As for weigh****chers, many years ago I had success with them but the program has changed SO dramatically and the emphasis on purchasing their products turned me off. For a while I realized I could eat all my points in snickers bars and be perfectly on plan. I am a little afraid to try IF because oh....if I don't eat....it's bad. Blood sugar goes way too low for one, and I even get very anxious.
I'll be interested in your experience with medication. I'd prefer not to do that myself but would love to know how this goes for you.
