Morning RNY'ers! I've been out on my run, am showered and awaiting some eggs to boil. Today we'll do a what should be the last repair requested by the buyer of our home. We inspected the new house yesterday. As we expected the roof and A/C are at end of life. We agreed the inspection was for our information only, seller won't make repairs. We plan on tackling the roof after moving in but putting the A/C off till next summer. The pool hasn't been maintained this season, so we'll need to invest time into clearing it up for the winter. The inside of the house is amazing and other than the roof, A/C and soon thereafter the furnace-- not a stitch of work needs to be done. Not even paint. We are so darn excited you just don't know! Today we'll take the kids to the neighborhood to see the area. they haven't been able to see the home in person due to covid restrictions.

qotd: not a food, but a drink. Egg Nog. What the hell is Nog?? Nope- not drinking it.

menu today:

m1: boiled egg and bagel

m2: homemade pizza

m3: yogurt and strawberries

m4: pork chops & spinach

Woohoo for the new house! So exciting!

egg nog is something I wouldn't touch now. It grosses me out since surgery.

I had a frozen dinner for lunch. Had breakfast at 4:00 AM.

The frozen dinner was turkey with way too much gravy. One I will not buy again. The good thing about frozen dinners is that they give you a goo idea of calories and portion sizes.

Between the extreme heat and the mask the other day, I managed to hit my arm on the sharp corner of the car door when getting out of the car in a parking lot. Does not really hurt, but left a huge bruise. It is going to be cooler today in the 80's instead of the 90's. I am doing a lot of yard work, so hope I don't manage to get any more bruises.

I am constantly worrying about falling and always watching where I walk. As I get older, I realize that a fall can be life changing.

My mom really freaked out since I just had back surgery 3 weeks ago. I felt worse for freaking her out than anything. Luckily I didn't land on my butt or back.

We don't bounce like we used to. And I'm clumsy on top of it so it makes me a bruise waiting to happen!

Mornin' Weekenders!

well, I was hoping to go kayaking or take a long bike ride today, but we're supposed to get heavy rains off and on until noon. I think kayaking is out - but maybe we could ride on paved bike trails or city streets (as long as it's not too humid). Or I could just punt exercise today and just read. Not sure what I want to do.. Starting this afternoon, though, we're supposed to have a long streak of great weather - high 70s/low 80s and no rain - so this should be a good week for outdoor activities! (which I'm trying to take advantage of since once things cool down in the fall, we'll probably be trapped in our houses again for a few months - UGH!!)

accountability was great yesterday. Hoping for a repeat today!

QOTD: I'm generally pretty adventurous with food, except when it comes to meats. I draw the line at weird meats. I'm fine with the five or six very common and popular ones (at least the common and popular ones in the US), but beyond that, no. Before I went off to spend a summer in South Africa 20-ish years ago (winter there), I read that caterpillars were a much-loved food. I took a jar of peanut butter with me so I'd have something to eat on days when caterpillars were on the menu. Not doin' it.

TSS: 5y2m

B: piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry/rhubarb compote, coffee with half & half

MS: Fit Frappe

L: chicken wrap (in a low-carb lavash) with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and seasoned plain Greek yogurt

AS: small piece of b-day cake (eight days later, I still have it...)

D: not sure - something low in calories, though. Maybe a couple of Costco chicken skewers and a small salad with light dressing?

have a great day, everyone!!

We got up to 104 here yesterday and now we're supposed to be in the low 90's for at least a week. It's been more humid than we usually are used to and it's been miserable!

I really hate hot weather (well, extremes at either end). I lived in North Carolina for 10 years - three of them in Raleigh. The summers there were brutal and seemed to last forever - and I would imagine they're even worse in Texas!
