Mornin' All!

I'm waiting for the HVAC guy to call to schedule our A/C install. For the non-weekenders, our 30-year-old central air unit died on Friday. It would have been close to $1000 to replace the faulty part, which didn't seem like a wise expenditure on such an ancient unit. Better to apply it to a new one. It was super hot in here on Saturday - better but still uncomfortable yesterday (late afternoon and evening, mostly) - should be better this week since the outside temps will only be in the high 70s/low 80s and not too humid. New thing should be in by the end of the week. YAY!

Mah Jongg today at 10:00 - otherwise, nuttin'. I may do some advance meal prep if it's not too hot in here today.

yesterday was good calorie-wise plus we had a long bike ride to boot

QOTD: like others, not to get too complacent and feeling like I had conquered my weight problem. Ha! I gained 12 lbs in year 3, stabilized for quite a while, and then eight more last fall/winter between being abroad for a month (and not paying as much attention to what I was eating - and not having access to a scale) and then too many holiday blow-outs. I've taken about three of it off, but it's a huge struggle. Would like to lose at least four more lbs. I had no idea how hard it would be to lose regain!

TSS: 5+ y

B: coconut Greek yogurt w/ 1/2 diced mango and 2 T muesli, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: chocolate "mousse" (made with cottage cheese and protein powder) and raspberries

AS: L&F yogurt & a skinny bagel with light cream cheese. Or else a piece of lime yogurt pie with 2 T light Cool Whip

D: something cool - probably 2 Costco chicken skewers with 1/2 C bean salad or Asian-style cole slaw

ex: if it's not too hot later I may go for another bike ride. I really need to do weights, but I'm a little afraid to go to the gym (and have been for the last couple of weeks) because the virus has picked up around here lately. UGH!! When will this end???

So sorry to hear about the AC! Worst time of the year for it... We are looking into putting in a mini-split so that we can get central air in a few parts of the house. One of our friends who came over for Jaws in an HVAC guy and he was giving us some advice :)

Morning! I think we're finally returning to normal life here. My sister visited from June 27th - July 4th. Then we went to MD to visit my BFF from July 8th - July 13th and my husband went back to NY to move our final load of stuff to NC. We came home for two days and then went back to MD with my husband in tow on July 15th. We came home yesterday and now don't have plans to go anywhere until October when we have a week planned at the beach. I have surgery on my hip on 8/18. It's amazing how you adjust to socially distancing while also still doing things. My BFF's family has been strictly social distancing still and we went nowhere while we were there. Same with my sister coming here. It was nice to see people, but I guess we're back to flying solo for awhile. I have to have a COVID test before my surgery and we'll need to fully quarantine after that until I'm recovered from surgery.

QOTD: Don't let your Type A personality make you obsessed with food/success.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x3
  • Tomato, Mozzarella, Basil, Turkey
  • Baked Ziti - pulled a half of a recipe out of the freezer since we just returned home.

Good morning menu friends! Miss Lily and I have our long walk in very early before the heat and humidity pick up any more. I"ll take another walk by myself later and a walk around the block with her right before dark. I'll get my steps in just like yesterday. Accountability was bad yesterday as I added a snack I did not need. I have to stop trying to eat my stress. QOTD to stay accountable by weighing every single day . When I stopped in year 4 I quickly regained 30 pounds. Here's the food plan B 1/2c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 3/4 cup cauliflower parmesan soup D 4 oz ground beef with cheese and no bun. NO snacks,Karen! Have a great day full of smart choices and stay safe everyone!

Good Morning! JB, your movie night looked like so much fun. Happy Surgiversary, you've come so far and inspire us all!! So this weekend I completed my 332 mile virtual run challenge (I'll post my bib and stats for photo Friday and then of course my medals when they come - supposed to be mid August) My Wonder Woman 10k bling should be here this week. For now I'm not changing my schedule much, I want to give it a week or so and enjoy that quiet time in the morning and then I?m planning to start to adjust to a more realistic schedule where m not going to bed by 8pm.

Accountability: A decent weekend with only a few additions but with some extra run miles to finish my challenge I needed them.

QOTD: Be patient, mistakes will be made and that?s ok. Surgery does not fix the issues in our mind.

Today is my hubby's birthday so I've got to go hang some streamers in his office. Em is compiling a video of video messages we got from friends and family that was totally her idea!!

Congratulations on 5 years! When I hear about experiences like yours with lapbands it amazes me that some surgeons still use them. You sound discouraged, but it seems like you are healthy and even if not as low as you want you know how to get there. Being stuck inside the last few months has not been good for anyone.

It is a gloomy day here on the Cape. So I think I will do the necessary household tasks so I can go to the beach tomorrow. It is supposed to be close to 90 even near the beaches tomorrow which is rare. Yesterday involved kayaking, a long Justice walk and a rapid covid test for DS. Yes, my hypochondriac son was sure he had it - he doesn't thank goodness. Worth the out of pocket payment to get quick results...

QOTD: The night before surgery I think I would remind myself of two things: 1) It will all be worth it even if the immediate post-surgical period is difficult. SO MANY dieting failures over my life proved that I couldn't do it with diet alone. 2) Maintenance was going to be the most crucial period no matter how successful my initial weight loss was going to be. On the first, I ended up with a smoother post-surgical phase than I expected. On the latter, I am confronted with the reality of it every day, but my "tool" does make a difference as long as I eat properly (dense, lean protein first)
