I haven't seen the muffin tops but I like the English muffins; I just found a cin. raisin variety to try...and also, they have a grain free pizza crust that I want to try when it's cool enough to use the oven again

Good Morning JB and Menuers,
Did I ever tell you about my dad(God bless his soul) and his theory of why his kids were overweight? Sorry if I did but this meme and being family picnic weekend put this in my head and I wanted to let you guys hear this story. This weekend is our family picnic which revolves around food so much I will take off work tomorrow to start cooking for Sunday. This was my dads favorite day of the year. This picnic has been going on for over 100 years and we have never postponed or delayed it. It is always the 3rd Sunday in July and many of my cousins travel every year to participate. This year it will be just the locals small crowd under 100 probably under 50. But were gonna run a zoom for an hour for those who could not make it. So now you know how important food is to this Italian family my dad used to say the only reason you are fat is because you go out to eat at that McDonalds if you just ate at home you would not be over weight. His mother and most of her sisters were well over 300lbs. But in his mind it was Fast food. So when my dad was diagnosed with cancer and he was home by himself because we all still had to work I brought home a Labrador retriever. Something to keep him occupied and it gave him purpose. He started going to a dog park and met many nice people and they would walk at least 4 miles a day. He fed that dog so much crap food even with the amount of exercise the dog got he was still always overweight. So I asked my Dad if Ceaser was sneaking off and going to McDonalds. He was not happy with that question. I'm like he doesn't have hands or money dad. I miss both of them dearly. He was a great cook he forced food on us and I would never be a successful weight loss patient had he still been alive.
QOTD: I would say after surgery and the fact I quit smoking to do this, my sense of smell is probably the strongest. My weakest is definitely sight. I can not see without my glasses.
Accountability: I dug into a tub of RGF ice-cream. It is low in carbs and I had about 1/3 cup. So not bad.

I was always very skinny until I married an Italian. My mother's food never tempted me to eat. But the Italian food looked, smelled, and tasted fantastic.
I remember my mother in-law telling me when I was pregnant that I needed to watch my diet and then handing me a plate of pie. She was diabetic and craved sugar, so when everyone else was gone she would tell me to go to the store and buy her some cake and Coca Cola. I knew not to let her kids know that she was eating the wrong things.
I was 21 and did not understand why they would not let her have the food she wanted to eat. I do understand now and would not do it, but I am not really sorry that I made her happy sometimes.
I think the first Italian words I ever heard were mangiare, mangiare.
