Music speaks to me. I've got music that I became attached to when my son died, my daughter got married, that fab vacation in Cabo with my oldest son... I truly believe it's good for the soul!

Hi All!

I was confused when I saw the thread subject because for some reason, I had in my mind that it was Saturday and couldn't figure out why someone recently posted a comment to a five-day old menu thread! Good Lord - what is wrong with me this morning?? Anyway, yes. It's Tuesday. It's nice outside now, but they're calling for severe thunderstorms starting late this afternoon, which will usher in more hot, humid weather that'll stick around until at least the end of the week. Crap. Guess I'd better get out on my bike again this morning since I may not be able to after today!

I had my annual follow-up with my surgeon and my dietitian yesterday (telehealth visit - dietitian was at her house and her doggies kept walking by! So funny!). As expected, the surgeon just shrugged when I told him I'd gained 4 lbs since my appt last year, and was now 4 lbs overweight, according to the BMI chart. The dietitian got on my case and said I should stop obsessing about numbers (calories and the scale) because I was just fine and again suggested I try intuitive eating. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work for me, but I told her I'd at least request the book she recommended from the library. Maybe I can pick up a few tips, but I feel the only way to control my weight is to be obsessive. I don't trust myself otherwise. I know it's probably not mentally healthy, but...it's worked.

I decided to make a lime-flavored yogurt pie last night (with one small package of SF lime Jello and the rind and juice of one (real) lime). The batter was more "runny" than usual. Not sure if it was the Greek yogurt I used (I went cheap and got some at Aldi's), or if it was something about the lime or the Jello. Weird. I haven't tried it yet. I had to cook it a little longer than usual (because of the runniness) and it has sort of an odd texture (I touched the top - to see if it was done baking) - but the texture is probably due to the gelatin in it (normally, you put SF pudding into these things). I'll let you know how it is once I taste it...

QOTD: I sing all the time. Sometimes to songs, but more often a capella. I make up lots of songs depending on whatever enters my mind. I especially make up lots of songs about the cats.

TSS: 5+ y

B: protein pancakes topped with plain Greek yogurt and strawberry/rhubarb compote, coffee with half & half

MS: Fit Frappe

L: I'm not sure. Something light since pancakes and Fit Frappe are a bit higher in calories than my other options, and I want both! So maybe a couple of Costco chicken skewers and a small salad

AS: L&F yogurt with raspberries. Or a small piece of the lime yogurt pie

D: Ear of corn (elote style), one Costco chicken skewer, and 1/2 C Asian-style cole slaw

have a great day, everyone!!

I feel like people who have never been morbidly obese do not understand that us "recovering" obese usually need a LOT more structure to stay in control of our eating. We know that it isn't enough to have a smaller stomach, lose weight and have it off for a while. We could revert back to bad habits over an extended period at anytime. It is why I personally feel OH makes a big difference because we have all been there and understand that we have to do what works for us.

If I could eat intuitively I would not have been morbidly obese. My intuition clearly doesn't work when it comes to eating. Just saying...

I am obsessive also when it comes to this weight game. I see people post I gained 50 lbs. back and it scares the crap out of me. I feel if I do not obsess I will fall in a rabbits hole and I have come way to far to look back, Hopefully what I do is enough to keep me on track.

I totally agree! I gained 7 lbs last fall between spending a month abroad (and not having access to a scale, not being able to weigh and measure food, and not monitoring myself as closely as I do when I'm at home) - and then coming back just in time for the holidays. It's taken me since March to lose three measly pounds. And it was TOUGH! If I gained 50, I'm not even sure I could take it off anymore. I need to do whatever I can to prevent that from happening, because I know it could easily happen if I stop paying close attention for more than a day or two!

YES! I was so thankful that I "only" had to lose 20 earlier this year. People who have always been thin were amazed and thought that was lot. I was SO GLAD it wasn't 50 (or more)!

you know, back in the olden days (i.e., pre-WLS), I might have at least TRIED intuitive eating for a month or so, just to see if it worked. But I'm really afraid to do anything like that anymore. If I tried it and ended up gaining 10 lbs because it didn't "work" for me, God knows how long it would take me to get those 10 lbs back off again! If it's taken me four months to lose a measly three!
