What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
no pic for me- sorry I'm too scattered to get one. dr appt this morning with new bariatric... should be interesting. will update on anything interesting. I was overdue for my yearly check in appt by 6 months so thought it was time. this program seems not as good as my last one so we will see what resources there are.
QOTD: not really a big sports person...
Food plan- well I didn't lose the weight the 'app' I was using planned on me losing so it recommended me trying maintenance for a few weeks to get my head on straight and recover from the cut plan. overall I think its a good app and makes sense according to the food plan the bariatric program provided but the carb cutting was hard on me for the last 2 weeks or so and made me more tired and cranky pants. so for now I'm on a break and will see what the surgeon says today also.
so no food plan today...
What app are you using?

Thanks. Just downloaded it and we'll see how it works for me.

Happy Friday everyone!
I woke up about 4 and was wide awake, so I got up and signed in to get some work done early before a severe case of Friday-itis sets in. Since we've been working from home fulltime, we are allowed to work whatever schedule we like, as long as we sign in and out and get our work done. This has been really helpful for those of us who are balancing our workdays with caregiving. It's also really helpful since connectivity and bandwidth are generally better off peak hours since everyone in the world is working, learning and entertaining online. I just usually can't make myself get out of bed that early. Also by Friday, my energy is bottoming out and my pain is peaking, so I try to get the tasks that require close attention done as early as possible.
I don't have alot planned for the weekend. Probably some dirt therapy (playing with my plants), a few kitchen adventures, picking up some groceries and running the vacuum since it looks like we're collecting fur to make new cats with! All of that is of course contingent on being upright with my eyes open...argh!
In that vein, the latest nerve block seems to have helped. It hasn't completely eliminated the cervical pain, but it has improved things so that most days I have a few more functional hours as long as I am cautious about not overdoing things...yippee!! It has also helped me to make better food decisions on the whole, though the scale is a very fickle friend....
I also hope that I can get in some longer walks around all of the heat, humidity and thunderstorms. Maybe even take a walk at a local park before the rest of the housebound folk**** the trails!
Oh JB (and Liz), I'm so glad that you're able to get in some beach time. Seeing your picture wearing your mask, I wa**** by the thought that this year, in addition to sunglasses tan lines and farmer tans, that we should all have face mask tan lines. Wondering if wearing those clear plexiglass (?) face masks would eliminate getting a wonky tan...lol!!
Food for today:
I started with my usual big cup of black Double Bergamot Earl Grey with Miralax, but my tum wasn't happy having pills on an empty stomach, so I had my key lime Carbmaster yogurt with raspberries & slivered almonds earlier than usual.
I have the parts of my tea latte with protein powder cooling in the fridge and will have that in a few hours.
Lunch: I still have some deli Curry chicken and fresh-from-the-farm grape tomatoes (the tomatoes on the porch aren't ripe yet)
Snack: a turkey Chomps
Dinner: we'll probably order from one of the kabob houses in our neighborhood...chicken or salmon
QOTD: I don'****ch sports very much, unless it's World Cup time or the Olympics, but we're REALLY missing going to the neighborhood pool or indoor aquatic center. While our state/county is opening some pools, there are lots of limitations, including wait lists to get a timeslot and wearing masks unless your face is under water. I get it, but I really miss the water!
Oh, and here are a few pics for Photo Friday:
#1: Bijou Cat being cute.
# 2: Audie cat making Kitty *****n Netflix.
# 3: And me working in my Sheep-ish PJ's!
Take care everyone!!

LOL - when I was first scrolling down I thought your first picture was upside down!
RE your comments on flexibility and caretaking: I hope being able to have this flexibility in the future even after the current pandemic will be a regular option for working people since it has proven to be beneficial for all. It takes so much pressure off.

It's very interesting in my company to see where people are embracing this as the way of the future and others are anxiously trying to put the genie back in the bottle. In my org, I think the futurists will win but it's going to be a battle.

I'm very fortunate that a large portion of my job can be done remotely and the division chief has been super understanding about allowing more telework, flexed hours and emergency time off throughout the last 2 years. He believes that this time has proven that we can do our jobs while having more flexibility. We even have a few folks who live elsewhere and just come to the office a few days a month. I've been reassured that I will be in the very last group to return to the office if and when that happens. In the meantime, I just try to take it one day at a time and be grateful for a job with benefits and a retirement plan!
