Upper GI test

I'm having this done next week and I'm just curious if anyone has had this? I don't know anyone who has ever had this. I have to take a contrast(I've read it's usually barium) and sit in front of an X-ray and lay down on the X-ray table.

Yep! Mild chalky taste with the barium and having to take huge gulps (at least for me) was my least favorite. But, it was neat to see everything on the screen. Also had one AFTER my procedure to make sire there weren't any leaks

I have had the test done several times when I was having swallowing issues with my lap-band. The stuff you drink is disgusting... and then they strap you to a table that turns you practically upside down while they take X-rays. I can certainly think of better ways to spend an afternoon, but it's not the worst thing. Have fun!

I had it done in Singapore in 2005 when RNY wasn't really a thing there.

I was asked if students could watch and I agreed, expecting like, three or four - enter 30ish young men and women to stand and watch me being moved around like I was on a fairground ride.

I was quite the sideshow
