Iron Anemia / Severe Dizziness
Found this description on Reddit of someone's experience and it pretty much describes everyday all day.
Anyone else have similar symptoms?
"Mental effects amid iron deficiency anaemia are due to lack of oxygen to the brain. I personally have experienced feeling like I'm on a ship rocking back and forth but with my field of vision rocking back and forth, lack of concentration, depression, anxiety, and a sensation of "pulling" on the top of my head."
Have you had your doctor order a blood panel? It's really important to do that every 3-6 months. I've been anemic since I was a teen, and have had several rounds of iron infusions even before my RNY. I haven't had any infusions since but even with extra Iron and Vit C, my numbers are always low. Keep track of your Iron & Ferratin numbers and be sure to advocate for what you need. Many GP's don't really understand the needs of bariatric patients.
HW: 248+, SW (RNY: 2/28/17): 244, GW (10/17): 125; LW: 115; 45# regain (19-20); CW: 135.6; new goal: 135; Plastics: Ext mastopexy, Ext abdominoplasty-5/18/2018; diagnosed w/ gastroparesis 11/20.
My copper was very very low. Less than 10.
This affects body ability to convert ferritin to serum iron to create hemoglobin.
In oct my hemoglobin was 5.
Had 5 pints blood over 3 days in hospital.
Started 8 weeks ago experiencing imbalance and difficulty walking.
This is symptom of copper Deficiency.
Had iron infusion and ferritin when from 40 to 230.
With 3x week copper Infusions my hemoglobin has climbed to 11.1.
But I am still horribly dizzy and fatgued.
