Mornin' All!

I'm feeling really stressed this morning - this has been happening off & on since this pandemic started. I'm hoping it's not too hot yet so I can go out for a quick walk or bike ride before it gets unbearable out there. I have a blood draw at 10:30 (my annual follow-up at the bariatric clinic is in 10 days, and I like to do the labs beforehand so I can bring up any weirdnesses with my surgeon), and then my MIL wants me to go with her to the next county to pick up her new kitty from an animal shelter! (Thank God she finally found one - this woman needs a cat!!!)

DH's colonoscopy went well and all looks good, except he has diverticulosis (that's just the pockets - NOT the INFLAMED pockets of diverticulitis), so to help prevent it from developing into the latter, he's supposed to beef up his fiber & fluid intake (which he needed to do anyway, but I'm glad a doctor told him that). It'll be good for me, too, since fiber helps fill me up. So I bought a bunch of stuff at the store last night - fruit, veggies, beans. I also bought a bag of potatoes - for him, not for me - since he loves them and the skins have fiber in them. So this will be good for both of us.

QOTD: I like them all, but if I had all three in front of me and could only pick just one, I guess I'd go for the milk chocolate if left to my own devices (although if I was thinking about my health, which I often do, I'd pick the dark since it's healthier).

too bad JB's not on here today. I had a dream about her last night! She'd come to my house for a long weekend, but I could tell she was bored and was mortified by this awful wallpaper in the house (which was a completely different house than the house I actually live in). She went out to the kitchen to make a phone call, and she came back to the living room afterward to announce she'd changed her flight and was leaving that day. I was so shocked and sad - and felt so awful that I had that hideous wallpaper! LOL!

TSS: 5 y

B: if I have the energy I may make a batch of protein pancakes (and will eat them topped with Greek yogurt and fruit compote), otherwise I'll just have yogurt and fruit compote. Coffee with half & half

MS: not sure. I"m going to save my usual protein shake for this afternoon (for the road trip to get the cat). So maybe a thin rice cake with peanut butter or chocolate hummus?

L: carnitas taco

AS: protein shake

D: if we're home, probably an Asian or Mexican-flavored vegan burger on a slim bun with a coordinating "sauce" (made with an appropriate sauce mixed with plain Greek yogurt and some shredded cabbage). Or else a salad with Costco chicken skewers.

boy - I usually have my meals all planned out the night before - much easier than when I have to think about them on the spur of the moment! Plus things like spending a chunk of the day with someone (like my MIL) make it difficult, since I'm not sure how long I'll be there and if there will be meals included....

anyway, have a great day, all!

this kitty is great! So social! She's been out and about in the apartment since we got there - exploring everything, sitting in all of our laps, wanting to be petted, watching birds from windows - so different from when we brought many of ours home who hid under beds for the first 24 hours!

That is excellent! I hope your MIL gets a lot of pleasure from her.

Bad dreams can leave me unsettled for a while. Hope your day gets better and that the new kitty and your MiL are a great match.

What a weird dream. Who knows what's going on in our subconscious.

IKR?? I also think it's so weird when I dream about people from OH (this wasn't the first time) - but then, I know all you guys fairly well now - and you're the first people I interact with every morning - often before DH, even!

Good morning! Yesterday was a perfect Cape Cod day so hopefully today will be at least partially that good. I want to get Justice out for a walk along the ocean soon as he spent most of the day in his crate yesterday while the housekeeper was here and I was at the beach (from 10:30-4, can you believe it?).

QOTD: Like Trish, milk chocolate is usually my favorite. DH used to love dark chocolate but I don't as much. But I have been making some great WW 1 point muffins which are dark chocolate. Below is the basic recipe. I use Kodiak chocolate protein pancake mix and bake at 350 for 23 minutes. Mash the bananas, add the eggs and mix, add the flour and chips and mix. Put into a muffin tin sprayed with Pam. Makes 6 muffins:

TSS: 4 years, 3 months

B: Coffee! WW banana/egg pancake

L: Deli chicken and cottage cheese

D: leftover grilled swordfish and broccoli/cauliflower

S:bean salad and/or lemon blueberry yogurt pie and/or WW one point muffin
