What's on your Monday Menu?
So glad that you had a good time last night. It really is hard when it feels like you don't have any adult conversations.

Liz, I read your QOTD yesterday and I wanted to chime in. I would love to dream about my dad and brother.
I lost my dad about 20 years ago (he was 62 at the time) and I had a great relationship with him, typical daddy's girl all the way to the end. I dreamt of him on and off, mostly he was in a corner of the room I was in watching me quietly or in the car watching me drive. Not much talking. Then I had a call, a real call from him. He explained to me where he was during the time he couldn't talk and all kinds of stuff! It was such an uplifting call that I woke up in the morning and told my husband "dad called me"!
I lost my brother about 5 years ago to brain tumor, and my dad dreams stopped. At first I was dreaming of my brother in bad situations, like bumpy rides in ambulances. For a long while I didn't dream of him and it worried me. I would ask my mom if she dreamt of my brother and she did. When I asked her why isn't dad coming any more her idea was that dad is helping out my brother and practically they are both busy. Then I went through a rough patch with my son and that's when I started dreaming of my brother, but in my dreams my son and brother kept switching places. In the morning I could never say if it was my brother or my son that I had dreamt of. They both have a very mischievous smile that just melts my heart when I see it, whether on my son or in my dreams on my brother.
Sorry for rambling on, I just wanted to say I do believe that loved ones visit us when they can.

I have read books from the 1800's where people were trying to communicate with the deceased. I believe that was mostly stopped by the churches. The communication was similar to radio and TV. I believe we can be in communication with those who have passed on and it is nothing to be afraid of.
My husband has been gone for almost eleven years. I don't think I have ever dreamed of him, but have felt his presence and approval at times.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
yes -- spiritualism was huge then. There were mediums - and seances were common. I think Mary Todd Lincoln was involved in a spiritualist group later in life. There were a couple of spiritualist groups who were active in Wisconsin (my state) - in fact, there was some spiritualist camp somewhere in the southeastern part of the state. I think there are still a few active members - although it's not like it was in the 19th century. It was very popular back then.
