Mornin' All!
we had some really heavy rain last night. It's sunny this morning and around 70 degrees F, so I was hoping to get out and ride my bike, but the humidity is 83% - so not sure. I was planning on going to the gym today anyway to do weights, so maybe I'll use one of the cardio machines while I'm there, too.
I didn't post until late yesterday, so few people probably saw it, but good news from the dentist - my problem tooth can most likely by "fixed" with a filling rather than a crown. YAY!! I was ecstatic! Not only was I not happy about the idea of having a tooth capped (although I would have if it was necessary), but that means a $40 co-pay rather than $500 (or whatever - I think insurance pays half the cost of a crown, so I'd end up with around a $400-500 bill - yikes!). So...that's that. Whew.
accountability was good yesterday - but no exercise.
QOTD: I've been an officer -- or on the board -- of several organizations, and my last few years at the university I was on the executive committee of university governance. I'm still on a handful of boards and committees but I'm going to try gradually giving them up. Some of them are a lot of work, and I really like being able to just do what I want to do and not have pressures, commitments, and deadlines to worry about.
TSS: 5 y
B: piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie topped with 2 T light Cool Whip and strawberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake. I might also have a L&F yogurt or a yogurt "popsicle" since I'm having a late lunch with a friend. It's always a risk to let myself get too hungry.
L: with a friend. I have no idea where we're going, so I don't know what I'll be eating - but something safe for sure. I'm trying to blow through what I think is my body's new "set point" and it's tough, so I'm trying to be really "good")
D: barbecue beef - maybe on a slim "bun" - or maybe just on its own
have a great day, everyone!
G'morning everybody!
Something Jen said yesterday about the clutch reminded me of this. How many of you guys can drive a stick shift car? I grew up with stick shift and I learned how to drive on a stick shift. To this day in most of Europe you would have a hard time finding an automatic car. There is a point to my story. DS wants a VW Westfalia for his college car. These cars are stick shift. So we rented a Fiat 500 manual transmission for him to practice on. It makes me laugh bcz neither DS nor DH want me to show them how to drive a stick shift. They both watch YouTube videos and then go out and try to drive. DH forgets that every time we go back to Italy and we rent a car *I* am the one who drives because he doesn't drive a stick shift. But I guess their male ego prevents them to ask for help from the resident stick shift driver of the house. I hear them practicing at night in the neighborhood and I hear the car choking constantly. I just keep quiet and go about my business. Next week we are renting an actual Westfalia to see if DS really likes it the way he thinks he would, or is it just a pipe dream. The guy who is renting it to us has a fleet of them and said they are horrible cars to have if you are not passionate about them and not willing to fix them or work on them constantly. I don't see DS being that passionate about a car, but we shall see.
QOTD: does it count I was on the kids school PTA? LOL It was called parents alliance. I have also been on a couple of local minor non profit organizations, but I didn't actually run for them, it was more like we have a vacancy and nobody for it, so why don't you do it.
My meals yesterday:
- B: protein coffee
- L: tuna + hb eggs
- S: fage yogurt + 30 dark choc chips
- D: chicken drumsticks
- E: 4.1 miles uphill wog
Happy jr fri-yay, everybody.

From all of your posts I had always known that Marylin and I would get along great. I can't count how many speed tickets I got.
All of a sudden you'll have a lot of drivers in the house and an increase in car insurance.

When you had to go to actual 8 hr classes for speeding, the instructor introduced me to everybody as his job security. I think it was the 3rd or 4th time I happened to sign up for his class. In my defense, especially when speed limit used to be 55, I was used to 85 in Europe, my foot automatically kept it at 85. I even tried using that excuse with a cop but somehow he didn't buy it.

My Dad made it mandatory we learned to drive a manual transmission before he would let us drive the automatic. So yep, I can jump in and in a few minutes, the old learning takes over and it's smooth roads ahead. My kids, uh, no. Neither one can drive a stick. Maybe a parenting fail on my part. Dad was old school. Stick, learn to change a tire, check and change the oil and check the radiator water before we could take off on our own. You could not PAY me to change a tire now. Triple A is never far.
