What's on your (PHOTO FRIDAY) Menu?
Morning all. I need to quit this sporadic posting crap and get back to you all. I miss you and the accountability. Food this week was very very difficult. My refrigerator died last week, and I couldn't get a new one delivered. Don't get me started on how stressful it was to buy a new refrigerator during a pandemic. First, most of the stores by me are still closed/have limited hours and services. Second, apparently a lot of the manufacturing plants were closed because of Covid-19. I went to 3 different Lowes and a Best Buy and they were able to set up delivery for JULY/AUGUST. Ummmm, i'm not cut out for pioneer life, thanks. We finally went to an independent appliance store and they were able to deliver yesterday. Anyway, this weekend will be all about restocking fresh food.
QOTD: We had a pool as did our neighbors down the street. I also went to summer school (I am a nerd) so it would be school in the morning then pool time in the afternoon.
My plan:
B: homemade latte with fairlife milk (I was able to salvage my carton and had it in the small refrigerator outside. It's now empty)
L: Grilled chicken salad
D: either tilapia or branzino and brussels sprouts (bringing in from my favorite fish restaurant. I don't think I'll be able to grocery shop until the weekend)
S: no idea
E: None. It's my rest day.
G'morning everybody!
I feel silly because I'm sitting in my hairdresser's parking lot all PO, which I shouldn't be. My last appt with her was Mar 13, so you can imagine all the grey hair. I was all excited this morning until I pulled into her parking lot. She called me to let me know her daughter had just called her that at work she was exposed to somebody with COVID and because she was her ride during this whole time she no longer feels comfortable seeing clients! I totally understand and I'm happy she is going in to get tested, but from a VERY selfish point of view I'm thinking what about my grey hair??? I've been going around with bandanas in my hair a-la Carmen Miranda for the last month or so hoping I can finally rock a cute pixie cut with red highlights, but now I have to wait. I know, first world problems.
On the good news front, have you guys seen my sig? Notice my weight??? I have FINALLY broken the 145 wall. I have been actually tittering around 144-144.8 all week but I really wanted to make sure that I can hold it below 145 before changing my sig line. I think a combo of low carb and WW is helping. The WW part that fruit is not the enemy definitely is a boost for me, especially now that is strawberry season.
QOTD: aaaaah, great memories. We had a summer house at the beach. My parents would drop us off literally the day after schools closed. Grandma was in charge of us the whole summer and my parents would come every weekend. It was a small town, where we could be out all day on our bikes. There were tons of kids like us who would come back every summer so we had tons of friends. I remember fondly those summers. Coincidentally during those hot summer afternoons when everybody was napping, my grandma taught me English. The book was about Jane and Peter (an old book she had) and she would make me read the lessons over and over. At the time I hated it because I was the only kid that was forced to study during summer but looking back now I can't thank her enough! Somehow she knew I'll end up here so she started teaching me English when I was 5-6 yrs old.
My meals yesterday:
- B: protein coffee
- L: chicken skewers + Fage yogurt
- S: strawberries & whipped cream
- D: cauliflower rice stir fry + eggs
- E: 30 minutes cardio + 45 minutes strength training
My pics are related to the strawberry season here. If you ever see Driscoll Strawberries in your stores it comes from here. Supposedly we are the capital of strawberries, and in past years all kinds of strawberry fairs would be going on around this time of the year. Anyway, DH bought strawberries like they were TP. And I accepted the challenge of using them before they went bad. I present to you my strawberry short cake (made with home made biscuits) and my layered strawberry cake. Both desserts were made with homemade whipped cream.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
